I just did some calculations for the Saint A's goalie if she was included:

Andrea Berlin
2004-2008

Including this year so far, she has 56 WINS.

That is a great D2 record. But not a D3 record. Start another thread for that.

It's the same thing.

No it's not, if it was, they would be in the rankings and be eligible for post season play.

Oh please. You have a basketball team that gets scholarships, so the rest of the teams are rated DII. It doesn't change anything as far as hockey goes, since no one gets scholarships, and more importantly, there is no such thing as DII women's hockey. If it ain't D1, it is DIII three hockey, plain and simple.

Let's include club hockey then as well, there were some pretty good goalies back in the mid 90's that never played college hockey. They did not get any scholarships, plain and simple.

Wow relax guys. First off I said "IF" she was included. Saint A's plays a DIII schedule so that is not DII- and they do NOT receive scholarships. Club hockey does not play a D3 schedule whatsoever. Get over yourselves.

There really isn't a "D-I" tournament. There's a D-III tournament, and a "National Collegiate" tournament for everybody else -- more like "open". So the D-II teams could play in the D-I tournament if they played enough games against non D-III opponents and did well enough as judged by the criteria. I would guess that there are hypothetical problems if a super D-II team put together a schedule such that it played other D-II and lowly D-I opponents and won them all, but because we don't see that in practice, I'm not going to worry about it.

Actually the way I interpret this...if your not D3 your D1. It would almost be nice if St. A's was crappy like St Mikes so we didn't have to go thru this crap almost every year

How positively negative! Taking a swipe at St Anselm by taking an even bigger swipe at St Michaels. Red reps for you.:( ;)

The basis of the argument is that since there is a D2 sport the other sports benefit from it. This is the reason behind why some coaches were for the all or none policy a few years ago. Meaning Hopkins has a great field for lacrosse, an improved weight room, improved athletic training facilities, and better equipment room. And since the other sports get to use this facility, they gain. Same could be said for Clarkson, St. Lawrence, Hartwick, Denver, Hobart, etc... Seems to be the only people who complain about it and want to make changes are the parents on here. If the school really wanted to make a difference with it then St. A's and the other schools can bring it to the NCAA. I am sure there are coaches that would agree with them.

FYI St.A's has brought the issue to the NCAA and they were told that that UNTILL the NCAA lifts the moratorium on movement betwen divisions ST.A's et al were stuck.also FYI most of the coaches and AD's in the ECAC East are on record as being against them.if you think that St.A's has superior facilities because of their DII status you are totaly misinformed.
your swipe at hawkhockey15 was a cheap shot and not consistent with your previous posts.

There was no dig. Just a statement of fact. It is just that I am getting tired of all these people complaining about St. A's situation. These athletes and their parents knew what they were getting into when they went there. Unless the Coach Flint lied to these recruits then there is no need to keep peppering these message boards with your complaints. I don't buy a Civic and then complain about how small it is!!!

Just a statement of fact for you: people who use this board expect to have a give and take on all kinds of issues. If you're tired of it, say so on a new thread, and leave the rest of us to debate the issues without your whining every time St. A is even mentioned. ;)

Changes take place when situations are examined and better alternatives identified. Sometimes the discussion has to last long enough for the point to be understood and the status quo reassessed. By nearly everyone's account, current rules aren't serving us well and could stand some modification; not on behalf of St. A or St. Mike's, but rather on behalf of D3 women's hockey, which can use all the good competition it can get.

I understand that the NCAA has rules and they have to be enforced consistently. I think therefore that an NCAA record for most career wins by a D-III goalie cannot include the results of D-II teams such as St. Anselm.

However, for purposes of this bulletin board, I think that Berlin's accomplishments are every bit as worthy as Staats, Kogut, Doyle and the rest.

On the other hand, this particular statistic is not a good measure of a goaltender's value, since the career win statistic by definition exludes goalies who had the luck (or misfortune) to share time with another skilled player.

I am NOT complaining. Most people on this board are fine with including Saint Anselm into the topics posted since the NCAA does not include them. Its just a MESSAGE BOARD- relax!
