Season is underway….

Even though I am skeptical of rostering 4 goalies and 27 total players, I was happy to see Utica pick up a win over New England. The margin of victory was greater than that of last season so I am wondering if NE’s squad is not as strong as least year’s. Assistant Captains Rowan and Schnitker look to be strong. Freshman Darcy Heir was second star of the game and rookies Sudik and Witz showed up all over the stats sheet. Does anyone know the status of Bills and Kaufman? Are they injured or is does the incoming Frosh really have more talent then these two?

Elmira really took it to Chatham. Not a big surprise as I think Chatham will struggle again this season. I do have to give props to Scott as she managed to stop 64 out of 74 shots. I wonder if that’s a school record or anything.

Kaufman did not suit up both games because she is just ending her soccer season and she should be suited up soon. Bills did not suit up the EX game but she did suit up and play against NEC. GO PIONEERS!!

Witz is not a rookie transfer from Manhattanville. She is a junior and had two solid seasons with Manhattanville.

I think it should be called the Wild West as this division is pretty tough compared to where my RITTIGERS played in the past. I am looking ahead to the Elmira games at the end of the month as my barometer. I was concerned about the offence after losing #10 to Manhattanville but the offence has been fine so far, although its very early in the season. I think Platty is the top team that Blanchard is some player, and I hope my RITTIGERS can hang in there with Elmira. Nuemann it appears has improved and Utica could be contenders. Utica looks young? Their three captains Rowan Schnikter and Leclerc are impact players. There looks like freshman Sudik and others will contribute, and Witz is a junior? pickup from Manhattanville can setup offence and score too always played well vs. RIT. The goalkeepers look young though? Elmira is going to be there the Ritzel girl will do some heavy damage as she can really play. Elmira looks deep with a solid blend of young and experienced players. I just have trouble believing anyone can topple Plattsburgh. I think Plattsburgh has so many superb players and can wear teams down. I say while Richard had a marvelous season last year I think she will outdo that this season for RIT. For me as a fan I think Geypens, Richard, a bunch of solid returners and at least five freshman who can contribute will give RIT a great season. Enjoy the games everyone.

I was wondering how RIT would be this season after the loss of #10. However, I think the attention she brought to the program last season helped land some pretty solid recruits and the coach obviously knows how to assemble a darn good team (with or without DN). The Tigers look good so far, like you say, we will know more as the season progresses.

Utica is a young team, they brought in some 12 new players, though not all are true freshman. This weekends match up against Adrian could turn out to be a battle of the frosh. In curious to see how the coach plays out the line combo's with as many players as the team has rostered. And you are right about Schnitker being an impact player. She has division one talent, but was snubbed at Clarkson for personal reasons. A real solid blue-liner with a nice one timer. Im hopping she really steps it up a notch this season. I would like to see Utica content with Elmira thought I think Elmira, RIT and of course Plattsburg are all in a class by themselves (regarding this conference).

I am glad that a few of you will be at the big match up between Elmira and RIT. Please come back and enlighten the rest of us with those inside details that you never get just form looking at the box score alone!

This season should be a bang!

Platty took care of business as for RIT they outshot Buff State but had problems finding the back of the net, not a good sign from them against a weak opponent... this could be their weakness and they may have been slightly overrated by many in college hockey...

What happened at Oswego and Buffalo State last Saturday? Between Oswego and Platty there were 17 penalties of which 2 were roughing, 4 various checking, 1 checking from behind, and one boarding. Between RIT and Buffalo, there were 25 penalties, of which there were 4 roughing, 3 various checking, 5 “Hitting after the Whistle”, 1 slash and 1 elbow. I can think of several reasons:
1. The teams do not like each other.
2. The ref’s thought the fans paid to see them.
3. The coaches had/have no control over their team’s actions.
4. Skilled players were taking advantage of weaker players.
5. Weaker players were doing anything to try to keep up.
6. Class teams became classless.
7. Classless teams sunk to new depths of classlessness.
If you were there, what reason can you give? Unless you like special teams play, blood and guts, those two games had to be dreadful to watch. The ECAC-W appears to be becoming the “Black and Blue” conference.

Say What for 2008 D3 Women's Poster of the Year:)

It's going to be fun seeing you stir the pot up here all season long. You stir the pot, but do it in a fun, logical, and reasonable way that makes the board much more interesting!

Why thank you very much. Always a pleasure! And you should know, as you have done your fair share of stirring in the past. If I didn't have such a cush state job, I would have made a great chef, as I really do like to stir things up.

GO MIT, time to show the Huskies and Pilgrims that there is braun behind the brains!! Onward and upward ye darkhorses!!!!

Even though Cortland lost to Elmira, I think they really surprised Elmira. The score was tied at the end of the 2nd period in the first game. The scores make it look more lopsided than it actually was. It seems like the new coach for Cortland is going to be a big help to the program. Especially when he gts the chance to bring in some recruits next year.
