Weekend games of interest (at least to me!)
Friday:
Superior v. Point-wish I could see the West play more, but from varied posts this looks to be the quality match up of the weekend.
Gustavus v. St. Olaf and River v. Lake Forest-could these be telling? Need some help from Western fans here.
Anyway--comments?

Superior/Point will tell who is for real and who's not. Wish this was not so far away, would like to see this one.

I'll take Gustavus over St. Olaf twice, team speed and depth will be the difference here. UW River Falls and Lake Forest will also be a good match up. I like River Falls. Enjoy!

St. Mike v. Sacred Heart-Sacred Heart has everything to lose; they should handle St. Mike, but will they? St. Mike's already has UMB as a scalp; could this program be ready to take out another program that has historically owned them?
Saturday:
Interesting games at Salve: First St. Mikes, then Norwich. These games could be very competitive and could tell a lot about who is ready to move on and who is going to stay put, particularly with regard to Salve and St. Mike. Norwich could come out of this game ready for Sunday.
Sunday-
Conn College at Norwich- Don't know what to think about Conn. College; good games, then get taken out by sinking Sacred Heart. Another chance for upstart Norwich to be an upstart.
Silly-ness- Game tracker at M'ville v. Plymouth at M'ville? St. Mike's at Sacred Heart? Maybe I just missed the point and don't mean to be elitist, but isn't game tracker supposed to be at key games?
Anyway--comments?

You don't think that Amherst V. Platty on Friday night is of interest?? I want what your smoking.

Holy cow--you're absolutely right! Totally fanned on that one...great chance for Plummer's program to live up to early hype. Thanks for pointing that out-love to be at this one!

All things being even, only two games of any consequence affecting the top ten this weekend.

Plattsburgh hosting Amherst – With the game in Plattsburgh and Blanchard and the rest of the top line well rested after their weekend off at Chatham, look for the Cardinals to roll to another victory. To have any chance, Elek will have to be flawless for Amherst in goal and that is a tall order against the red birds.

Stevens Point hosting Superior – I want Superior win this one: 1) because that will shut all the posters up who “think” Point is number 1, and 2) it would give gojack something to squack about instead of just dream about. Problem is this game is at Point, Superiors past history is not good against Point even when they had fire power and I just don’t think Superiors as good as some think. In fact, after this game and Superior’s game the following week at Gustavus, I think I hear The Doors singing,

This is the end, beautiful friend.
This is the end, my only friend,
The end, of our elaborate plans,
The end, of everything that stands,
The end, no safety or surprise,
The end.
I'll never look into your eyes again.

I don't think myself and other fans have hard time saying that Plattsburgh is a very good team. Even perhaps #1. Why such a cold heart towards fans of any team other than Plattsburgh? And it's squawk not squack. :D :D :D Good luck to Platty this week end

I've submitted my article, just have to wait for it to get through the editors and then they'll post it up on the main page or you'll see the USCHO news bot announce it in the announcements threads.

Unfortunately, It's going to be very hard for me to make games in the west this year due to a very small paycheck that would almost be wiped out making 1 or 2 trips to the west.

If the Frozen Four is in the west though, I'll certainly be there.

I do my best to try and off-set my Eastern location by getting as much western news as I can in each column.

Three keys to this game for Plattsburgh:

1. Emotion
2. Emotion
3. Goaltending

Amherst will be fired up and will be looking to avenge a 3-2 loss in the NCAA semi-finals. They will come out fired up and ready to play. Plattsburgh can not afford to stumble out of the game or they will find themselves in a hole fast. The Cards will need to play with some emotion (especially early) if they want to be sucessfull.

Which ever team gets the best performance from their goalie tonight will win this game. I think for some Plattsburgh fans, the big question mark with the 07-08 Cards still lies with the goaltending. Tonight will be another good test for Beattie and company.

Looking for an honest opinion here Bill. If Platty was to lose tonight (I don't think they will) where would you put them in the rankings? And assuming everyone else wins.

I would think they would still be a top 3 team. Amherst would probably jump to #1 or #2 (depending on what UWSP does).

If UWSP wins and Amherst wins:

1. UWSP
2. Amherst
3. Plattsburgh
4. Middlebury

If UWSP loses and Amherst wins:

1. Amherst
2. Plattsburgh
3. Middlebury
4. UWSP/RIT

Wow!

2 goals by Neumann in the final 30 seconds of the game to tie it at 4!

what a collapse by Cortland.
