Just for comparison's sake, I thought each week we could put the 2 polls against each other and crab or talk about them ;)

Obviously the only difference this week is Minnesota played 2 games and moved ahead of Harvard who has yet to take the ice.

Regarding USCHO poll...
I guess I don’t understand why #3 UNH and #4SLU can split and then both be ranked third when #10 OSU and #11UConn split and UConn still aint gettin no love?
I suppose I will let it slide since this is only the second poll of the season....but IMO, until more games are hashed out, UConn deserves a top ten ranking just as much as OSU.
As mentioned in the gameday thread.. the new USCHO poll just went up:
1 Wisconsin (11) 5-0-1 143 1
2 Mercyhurst ( 4) 5-0-0 134 2
3 St. Lawrence 1-1-0 110 3
4 New Hampshire 2-1-0 108 3
5 Minnesota-Duluth 4-0-0 99 5
6 Harvard 0-0-0 75 6
7 Boston College 3-0-0 57 8
8 Dartmouth 0-0-0 33 9
9 Ohio State 1-2-1 21 10
10 Minnesota 2-1-1 19 7
Others Receiving Votes: Connecticut 17, St. Cloud State 4, Clarkson 2, Princeton 2, Colgate 1

I'm not quite sure how Ohio State is 9th still, with a 1-2-1 record, and moved UP but I guess the Gopher loss and tie caused that when OSU lost and tied Wisconsin. Really need Harvard and Dartmouth to play games now to clean up the poll I think.

Princeton still getting a vote. I must be missing something (feel free to fill me in if you know what). Noticeably absent from USA Today poll, Colgate Raiders...
Also gone, Clarky :(

Since Princeton hasn't played a game yet.. someone feels their roster's good enough to be there... THEY get their first test, against BC Friday...It still amazes me that the IVY's start their season so far after the WCHA
I'm not quite sure how Ohio State is 9th still, with a 1-2-1 record, and moved UP but I guess the Gopher loss and tie caused that when OSU lost and tied Wisconsin.I think we saw similar results last year, where it often looked like nobody really wanted the 9th and 10th spots. Based on their play to date, Minnesota is lucky to be ranked at all, because they have yet to play a strong game for 60 minutes. OSU and MN have split the last 4 series, and if they do so again, I'd expect UConn to pass them both, but I see that the Huskies have a tough weekend coming up with SLU and Colgate. At this time of year, it is tough to judge what is a fluke result and what points to a real shift in power.

I’m sure most (if not all) other posters have already seen this, but as it is nice and neatly tucked away down low on the homepage, maybe this is a good place to post it too...

What only counts is happens between now and March!!!
Look at the football polls????from start to now
I tell the kids the same thing I work with: If they were picking future Olympians at age 15 Michael Jordan would not have made it remember he got cut his sophmore year!! from the high school team
that's true!
Imagine being the guy that cut him!!!

Saw the notice and the performance. Well-deserved. Too bad Faber didn't get a word up for being the one to FINALLY beat her:)

And more, youngster!!!!!!! Can I be your Fards for Pres campaign manager? It would be my first endeavor at the position, but it would keep her off the ice, so I'm willing to learn:D

The only thing that I like better about the USAToday poll vs. USCHO poll is I agree that Mercyhurst should be #3 and UNH should be #4. At this point, I’m not sure the Cats could take the Lakers.
OSU should not be in the poll, and isn’t, and UConn should have been (for a while)and finally is, but may be a little bit high. I think both Minny and Dartmouth could take UConn.
Havard - SLU rankings is a tough one because the Crimson haven’t played but one exhibition game. From the reports they sound impressive and they look pretty good on paper (but so does Yale for the most part and they didn’t well). SLU wins. They are pre-season ECAC favorite for a reason. They have tremendous talent. Besides a unexpected loss to UConn, their only other loss is to #3/#4 UNH.
UMD deserving of the number #1 ranking this week. Undefeated in 6 games and huge series against number #2 (and for much of last season #1) 'Husrt. Though I am confident that Bucky will beat the Bulldogs.
Still early in the season I suppose, time will tell.
So who will be this week's No. 1? New Hampshire maybe? The way things have so far, being No. 1 has turned out to be a bit of a jinx.
I say the Gophers should leap to at least No. 5! Not only did they sweep last week's No. 1, they did so convincingly. :D
Since New Hampshire only got 1 first place vote in the last poll, maybe it goes Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Mercyhurst, UMD, Minnesota but that's as wild a guess as any other guesses we could make about the polls.

Tough call, but I'm happy to see it go back to Wisconsin ;)
My thoughts:
1. Wisconsin- still defending champs and up next- Gophers & Wildcats
2. UNH - strong across the board and looking very confident
3. UMD - bad weekend, but on the road and we'll see if they can return the
favor in two weeks time.
4. Mercyhurst - really haven't been that convincing at home against teams
they should dominate. Is it defense or goaltending that's causing
them to give up so many goals? They'll be hard to gauge since
their schedule only has four games vs top ten teams and they've
already lost and tied in two of those four.
5. Minnesota - slow start, but this weekend showed they could be for real.
6. SLU - they might be as talented as anyone in the ECAC, but the league
looks weaker than last year and they lost 2 out of 3 at home to
Wildcats and Huskies
7. UConn-they just keep winning. Big game @ RPI this week.
8. Harvard- need some games to fairly know where they stand
9. BC - didn't look very good vs UNH this week, but time will tell
10 OSU or RPI?

My vote goes for UNH.....After having seen them play, they have me convinced. And so far their only loss has come against a very strong SLU team. And Dartmouth falls out.
