Nicols College Adds Ice Hockey as Varsity Sport

Nichols Athletics Adds Varsity Women's Ice Hockey
Dudley, Mass.- Nichols College President Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D. and Director of Athletics Charlyn Robert announced today the addition of women's ice hockey to Nichols existing athletics varsity programs. The team, which will be a member of the ECAC Women’s East Ice Hockey League, will commence varsity competition during the 2008-2009 academic year. Women’s ice hockey will be the 15th varsity sport sponsored by Nichols and its seventh women’s sport.

I saw them there also and thought it was odd they were so visible for a club team. Makes a little more sense now.

Either Pomfret, where their men's team plays, or Horgan in Auburn where the club team now plays. Kinda makes ya wonder if with two teams they might not build a rink on campus in the next few years.

Can anyone confirm the Jan 5 game against Salve? I can't find the results on either school's web site.

The Nichols foray into D III for January yielded a 1-4-1 record with their most successful games being against Plymouth State and Castleton. Looks like they may need to do a bit more recruiting for their full DIII season??!!
