Speaking of Badgers Women's Hockey, where has WHKY Blogger gone? They've been way silent on these boards for the past few weeks... I hope all is alright...

unfortunately, Badgers lose to SCSU 2-1 tonight. What a downer after a big win by the men...

eh, they needed to get the loss out of the way. Its a lot of pressure to carry around. Better now then later......

You are so very right. I played at a time when our first loss was in my senior year, and it was such a relief that we actually laughed on the bench at the end of the game (and went on to beat the same team in the "Nationals" back then. It's not as easy as it might seem to carry a streak of any kind on your back no matter how wide collective shoulders. A lot of dynamic results tonight - very good for our sport:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Indeed, as tough as it is to swallow watching some of my favorite teams go down, I couldn't agree more....

Yes it will... The Badgers lost to UMD, 2-0, last year on Nov. 24th. So it really wasnt that long ago that this streak started. These players are champions, they will be just fine ;)

According to the game recaps from both SCSU and UW, this one was pretty close to being a tie...

Kranz scored a goal with seven seconds left to tie the game, but apparently they reviewed the goal and decided a UW player was in the crease and blew off the goal due to goalie interference.
Did anyone get to see this play and was it a good call or another case of a WCHA ref blowing an important call down the stretch?

I was at the game. There were a lot of players right in around the net when the goal went in, so it could easily have been that a WI player was in the crease. I think it was a good call to review the goal. From a spectator point of view, the play happen so fast and with WI on a 6 on 5 there were a lot of bodies out there.

The Badgers won tonight 5-0, I am glad to see the girls come back so strong after the lost last night.

Deluce’s Hat Trick Leads UW Past Huskies, 5-0 (http://uwbadgers.com/sport_news/whky/headlines/story.html?sportid=138&storyid=11940)
"In the UW net, junior Jessie Vetter (Cottage Grove, Wis.) made 12 saves to earn her 19th career shutout, breaking the school record for career shutouts which she had previously shared with Christine Dufour"
"Deluce and Knight were credited with assists on Zaugg’s 68th career goal, moving her into sole possession of third place on the UW career goals list. Meghan Hunter is first with 84 career goals while Sara Bauer is second on the list with 80" (she scored #69 not long after...)
:D :D

Wisconsin falls to #2 behind UMD in the USCHO poll:

We'll see how that ranking fares after this home weekend against Mankato...
