Thought I'd get this started since the season is getting closer and closer every day.
I'd imagine that the lines could look something very much like this:
Forwards
Spillane Zavisza Thunstrom
Fardelmann Stack Keever
Harris Wright Baskin
Wiedmeier Mirasolo Webster
Defensewomen
Taverna Olchowski
Stuart Blood
Kurth Johnson
with Lambert, Wedig and Beaudry fighting for playing time
Goalies
Schaus
Rothschild (though I'd love to see a redshirt so we don't have two good goalies just one year apart in eligibility)
Thunstrom
I'd expect to see a lot more of the same from the offense. The defense is the question as they were less than dominating at times last season (although I think Stuart and Taverna are among the tops in HEA)
And I'm hoping that a full year of experience for Schaus will help make her even more dominating.
Comments?

I think Beaudry will be the pleasant surprise of the year.

I think Beaudry is a pretty strong defenseman as well, but it's simply a numbers game. Should be a lot of defenders vying for playing time. The only ones whose jobs are safe I'd say would be Stuart and Taverna.

With a +18 rating for her freshman year, I have to think she's going to get a fair amount of PT. Certainly wish her well, long ago she was my daughter's favorite D partner, Gaby was 12, my daughter 9. Boy, would my daughter ever give anything for the chance to play with or against her again.

woo!
She plays for North American Hockey Academy and hails from Chester Springs, PA. She is a usual at NTD camps and was a member of the national u18 team this year. She has good size, lots of skill and even more speed. Always a threat to score. She is one of the top recruits coming out of the 08 class. There used to be a video clip of her on the NAHA website that highlights her making a pass interception leading to a breakaway and a fantastic top shelf goal. I'm looking for it now...
Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

No love for sUeCONN at 5th in the preseason poll. I could easily see them finishing as one of the top two seeds for the HEA tourney.
I'm guessing that Coach Mac was the vote for BC as #1.

After taking over the HE thread (and last year’s at that!) I thought I would bring BC matters back to (this year’s) BC thread…. ;)
TIME TO CHANGE YOUR HANDLE.
IN GOAL ... MOLLY SCHAUS ...... EOS
(END OF STORY)
AMANDA WILL BE LUCKY TO CARRY MOLLY'S WATER BOTTLE
lol. Why the animosity?
Maybe it’s not that hockeyhands thinks that Rothschild is that bad, but rather that Schaus is just that good…Otherwise it just doesn’t make sense (at least to me) that someone who obviously has ties to and supports Assabet would have such animosity for a player from Assabet (unless is has to do with some personal reason/issue…which without any other insight from ‘hands seems most likely to me).
Rothschild is a great goalie. BC should consider themselves lucky that they have another goalie who has enough potential to keep BC competitive if something happens to/with Schaus. Rothschild played for Milton, Deerfield and Assabet. These are all top hockey programs so she definitely has some solid experience against other players who are considered at the top of their game for their age. Last year she was named top goaltender at Hockey Night in Boston (leading her team to win over Minny). And she is a multi-sport goalie which IMO adds more versatility to play. I could go on and on about her stellar stats, but given the right tools and the right team, Rothschild could be even better than what she has been so far. I’m sure Coach K will get it all figured out…:p
…besides we have other problems…now that BC has already established themselves to have one of the top 08-09 recruiting classes (Minny being the other) with all those power forwards, looks like competition up front is gonna be even steeper! A terrible problem to have, I know. But on a serious note….can we recruit some more blueliners now? :D

Is this the expected weakness for the coming year? How would you rate the returning D based on last year's play?

Last years play, the defense was a little porous...we mostly relied on Schaus to keep 'em in it. I actually think we are going to be improved this year, because we really so have ALOT of d-men. I think this year, one or two players are going to rise to the top (I already mentioned my believe that Beaudry will be the surprise of the season).

Keep trashing the blueliners and you really might get surprised (with a puck or stick to the head) :D
Seriously, I think all the ingredients are in place on defense and they just need the time to gel as a unit this year. I think both Johnson and Beaudry will make strides and I think Stuart and Taverna are among the best in the league.

I got to see Tracy Johnson play quite a bit in high school and she was very solid - a real "defensemen's D" - in position, made the right decisions and moved the puck real well. A big step up to Division 1, I realize, but IMO she's displayed the smarts to play well at any level. Best of luck to her in the coming season!

I was just taking a little poetic exagerative license. ;)
