How is Laura Hosier the first team goaltender?
Jessie Vetter, Christine Dufour, Brittany Martin, Kim Martin, and Molly Schaus all got hosed here based on stats alone! (excluding Schaus that is..)

There is a distinct and unacceptable lack of Allie Thunstrom on this page
Congrats to Crystal Connors tho
How is Laura Hosier the first team goaltender? In the past, I've heard that USCHO tries to spread the wealth around to some extent, so that the different All American teams don't just look like carbon copies of each other. In specific response to your question, I'd defend the choice by saying ... wait, give me a couple more minutes ... maybe the voting took place over the Christmas break? Sorry, that's the best I can do. I don't get the choice of Clemis either, but then I've never seen either of them play a game in person, so what do I know.
It is an impossible task to pick a team like this and make everyone happy. Personally, I'm not unhappy -- just unconvinced that those 2 had 3 of the best seasons of any goaltenders in the country.

I was just wondering,
who votes for this and where did you get these teams (as in what website)

Way to go Badgers! Overwhelming recognition like this is the best part of having such a successful showing throughout the rigors of the regular season.
While I don't want to be greedy, it would have been nice to see Vetter in the first team. But, still an amazing showing overall.
Plus, it doesn't matter what team she's placed in on paper. As long as she's a Badger when she's on the ice, we'll be okay!

Wow, so many Canadians on the first and second teams (5 for first team and 5 or 6 for second team)! That is significant. Where are all the US players and why aren't there more for these picks? Not complaining (I am Canadian) just curious, that's all.

Maybe they weren't taking nationality into account. I would have never thought to count up the number of Canadians vs. Americans.
Where are all the US players and why aren't there more for these picks?I think a high percentage of the top players in college hockey this season were Canadian -- e.g., 9 of the final 10 in the Kaz voting. On the All rookie team, half were American, so maybe the ration will get slightly more even in the future.

What about Gigi Marvin, I think that is a complete joke that she is not on any of these lists!
What about Gigi Marvin, I think that is a complete joke that she is not on any of these lists!Good as Gigi is, she didn't have the numbers (I think she's 39th nationally in PPG, if you don't count the players from Holy Cross.) Nobody from Minnesota really had a big year, and I'm hoping that many come back next year feeling that they are better than they showed this past season.
I'd say Melissa Boal of Wayne St. is a very good player who at least deserves to be mentioned by somebody -- so, I'm mentioning her.
Can someone from the USCHO staff speak to what is considered when choosing the player for the Sportsmanship Award? (general case, not why Garland was chosen)

According to today ' s numbers on this site , ( " 2006 - 2007 Women ' s D-1 Stats ; Scoring Leaders " ) Sarah Parsons is second nationally ( amongst freshmen ) in points per game behind Agosta ; she is first in assists and fourth in goals per game when matched against the other three . I believe she deserved to be named as forward on the ALL - USCHO ROOKIE TEAM over Stack and Duggan .
Scoring : it is Agosta at 2.11 ; Parsons at 1.56 , Stack at 1.54 and Duggan at 1.27 points per game .
Assists : it is Parsons (the leader) with 36 in 32 games , Stack with 37 in 35 games , Agosta with 36 in 35 games and Duggan with 23 in 37 games . Goals : it is Agosta - 38 in 35 games ; Duggan - 24 in 37 ; Stack - 17 in 35 and Parsons 14 in 32 games .

Also, could you give us the criteria for the Defensive Forward award? Again, no complaints about who received it, just trying to understand how the category is judged.
Thanks.:)

I just noticed that Parsons was left off the All-Rookie Team. That seems to be a rather monumental error in judgment.
I think you could possibly make a case for Parsons getting in over Duggan. It would be close either way. For Stack, I think she has some clear advantages over Parsons. Parsons had 13 points in two games versus Union, the weakest defensive team by more than a GPG. If you consider her numbers against everyone else, she has 37 points in 30 games, or 1.23 PPG, less than Duggan and far less than Stack. Also, in two H2H games, Stack had 3 assists while Parsons was held scoreless.
More than just total points, when the points are scored can matter (both point in the game and the competition.) I think similar reasoning explains why Sarah Vaillancourt is not on any of the teams despite being third in the country in PPG.

I just looked at the RBK All American team. Jessie deservedly got the first team nod there, but second team is Allison Rutledge? No disrespect meant, since I've never seen her play, but that seemed to come out of nowhere.

Who makes these decisions and what qualifications must a goalie have to make the first team? I agree with WHKY Blogger these other goalies got hosed on this one.
