I would like to ask what you think the National Women's hockey league has to do in order to fill the house for their games. I am so disappointed in the amount of fans that come out to watch. These women play awesome hockey and they are great to their fans but the stands are not full yet. The tickets aren't expensive so it is good entertainment for the family.
Come on out and support your favorite female team!!

Agree it's disappointing that support for the league is so slow to build. Some of the best talent in women's hockey is now playing in the league, and I think that each year you will see more top graduating American and Canadian college players migrate to the league. A few comments: first, they need to find a way to balance the teams better, especially in the West where Calgary Extreme gets a lot of CODA funding and functions as a training ground for the Canadian Olympic team, but no other teams have a similar base that allows them to be competitive; second, they need to find someone to look after media relations (get more game results posted, and develop a decent website that allows fans to keep abreast of game results); third, they need to stop the pretence of being 'professional', and make sure that their teams develop practice schedules and game schedules that will allow graduates to pursue serious careers while still playing in the league; fourth, in the West they need to have a couple teams in each of several major centers like Vancouver, Calgary, Minnessota, to begin to reduce the killer travel burden.

Agreed, Hab, When only 150 get out to watch the Oval, with some of the best young 'and old' talent in the world) vs Strathmore.....that's pretty sad. I saw Edmonton Chimos play in Minny vs the Whitecaps....great game.....excellent balance of officiating and hockey. Too bad there were only a couple 'a hundred in the stands at St. Louis Park Arena. I agree that there needs to be better publicity, balance and hockey teams in more centres....like Winnipeg. Hopefully, soon to come!
