Well as the first Tuesday in February is fast approaching I thought it was time we had a thread for the second year of the all D1 Beantown tourney.
Thoughts?

BC will have its hands full with Harvard; hopefully home ice will help. Then the winner of that games gets their coronation a week later against whoever wins the other game (who cares?)
Well there is certainly some parity, and though Northeastern basically sucks, they are capable of pulling a rabbit out of a hat.
I like BC's chances at home, and they should certainly have a good crowd. It would be nice if they could top 1000, though they will need great press in the Globe and Herald on Tuesday morning to really get the locals and alums out for the four schools.
However, I think it will be a Harvard-BU final, with Harvard coming out on top 4-1.

That coronation talk is a bit disrespectful considering one of the teams in the other game beat your team once already this season.

BC really needs a win vs. Harvard to improve the Eagles' chances for the NCAA playoffs; they also need a win Saturday @ UNH.

Hux, based on your supposed knowledge and connection to USA hockey, I'm kind of surprised at the adjective you use to describe Northeastern. Maybe it should be a topic in another thread but does everyone think Northeastern really does "stink" or are there people out there like me who see talent on the team but think that the coach is the one who "stinks".

1. That was on home ice with 1,000 fans in attendance, with BU pretty much playing the game of their lives... let's just ignore the 5-2 and 6-0 beatdowns at Conte Forum right
2. I'm pretty sure Harvard is going to win over BC (although I hope not)

and since UConn beat Harvard and BU beat and tied UConn - you dont think BU has any hope of an upset??? thats why they play the games....

You'll see a different BU team in both Beanpot games. I'm not guarenteeing a victory or anything, but this team is certainly on the verge of something big, and they really want a chance to prove themselves. Don't underestimate them.

Sure, anything CAN happen. This thread asks for what I think will happen. And what I think will happen is an instant classic between BC & HU with the winner going on to stomp/flatten/destroy etc. whoever wins the battle of the puppydogs.

UConn tied Mercyhurst and Vermont beat UConn, ergo, Vermont = #1 in the nation
We could do this all day.

The difference is the Beanpot is only two games, not an entire season....and that's the fun of it

Yeah, but Northeastern really is terrible and BU isn't far behind on the 'crap' list.. I still don't know how we lost to them <shrug>
In all honestly, Harvard will probably win. But I'm more optimistic because we have home ice.

Joe, Joe, Joe, you have now officially crossed over to Pin Head Nation. Do not be proud.
BU beat the Eagles and can do so again. They are a good team that is going to continue to improve and is fully capable of putting up another W against the Eagles.

Again.. it's possible, but I'm not gonna predict that, because I don't see it as likely.

Reality is, Harvard vs. BC in any of the Beanpot finals between 1999-2005 was a coronation. Harvard vs. BU, or BC vs. BU would both be good hockey games. BU would be the underdog sure, but I don't think the word coronation is appropriate.

See, man??? This is an intervention. Take off the maroon-colored glasses, and be objective... BC is good, but they're not the be-all and end-all of the world.

u know, i kind of agree with joe here.
i think the BC/Harvard gave will be absolutely phenominal, esp with BC actually having a home ice advantage for once (joe knows what i mean).
that being said, lets face it, northeastern is going to quite literally pull SOMETHING out of a hat to win. but no, that doesnt mean that wont happen.
and, look, BC haters, i acknowledge the fact that BU beat BC. but duquesne beat BC in basketball, boise state beat oklahoma, and george mason made it to the final four. crazy things happen in sports, and i think that was one of those times.
BU played a fantastic game. but look, they are nowhere near the level of boston college. 5-2 and 6-0 drubbings show alot more than one lucky 3-1 win with a band and 1000 fans because of a BC/BU MEN'S GAME PROMOTION.
BC plays extraordinarily well at home regardless, and with the huge jolt of fans for this beanpot in particular (once again, joe knows what i mean) will bring BC to life even more.
so, u can call us biased BC fans, but cmon. in all likelyhood (no, not definately), harvard/bc would stomp on whoever won the other game, plain and simple.

I'm pretty sure I said Harvard was going to win. Do they make you read at BU?

Yo Grant, I know you're a math major, but learn how to spell before you represent BC :P
See, I'm an equal opportunity basher. ;)
