Exactly. Let's just hope Keever is the same player upon return as she was pre-ACL injury. That's quite a major injury.
I've never seen Harris play, so I can't really comment on her ability, although I can say that she's a very nice person and seems like she's definitely a hard working type.
Harris = lots of speed!

They almost certainly will, especially since their men's team is hosting for the ECAC tourney.

well, that's not cool then, since i got an email back from dartmouth saying i couldnt bring my trumpet and play after bc's goals because the game has to be treated as completely neutral, and, quote, "THERE WILL BE NO GOAL SONGS FOR EITHER TEAM".
which i think is BS. im going to complain if they do and bring the email.
and my trumpet.

Pep bands can play goal songs after scoring-the arena can't play home music over the PA. Sounds like you're getting a BIG GREEN hosejob.

Well, with her "fixed" knee, that remains to be seen. But she IS fast!

maybe you guys should contact your athletic department and explain your situation. Then have them sent an email to dartmouth saying that you are the pep band (If they like you that much ;) )

Joe, she will have to work really hard this summer but ACL surgery is pretty common nowadays and most female athletes make a complete recovery unless there is some other type of structural damage to the knee. Her surgery was successful and she's talking about staying up at BC for a good part of the summer to work with the trainer.

The surgeons that BC works with do a very good job. A friend of mine who is a student athlete at BC tore her ACL a game into her sophomore year, and the doctors did a great job and got it back to full strength. Unforetunately, she suffered another one the spring of her third academic year and is currently still doing rehab on that knee (the other knee, not the one that was injured originally)
That said, that was a freak accident. BC's record of getting its kids with ACL injuries back on the field/ice at full strength is very good.

If that fails why don't you all get together and program your cell phone ringtones !!!:p :D

that's a good idea, but i still want to be able to cheer, and i cant really do that to the level that i usually do when im representing BC.
not that we dont keep it clean anyways, but were pretty crazy loud.

I lost my first ACL at age 40 - 20 years after finishing my D-1 career, and my second (with an MCL too) a year later. It's actually a pretty cut and dry repair and I haven't had any problems since with either (knock, knock, knock). 5 years later I still play, but only once - twice a week - no braces, but I have to keep my legs strong. I'm betting at her age, and with her resources, she'll have to search for the scars to remember she even had the injury, but good luck to her anyway.:o

That may be a bit of an exagerration (the scars will definitely be there) but I think BC's surgeons and PT people will do a great job in getting her back on her feet.
By the time you get to the Frozen Four, there are two types of teams in women's hockey: those that don't skate a 4th line, and those that might skate 4 during much of the season, but don't give it meaningful shifts in the NCAAs. We might be getting close to the point where a team will skate 4 lines through the entire game at a FF. I doubt that it will mean much, because they probably with give their 3rd and 4th short shifts.
If you have a line like Bourbeau/Chiounard/Agosta or Apps/Parsons/Piper, how much ice time do you want to take away from them to give to your 4th line? In men's hockey, where the players are giving and receiving big body checks throughout, a longer rotation is better. Plus, there is less dropoff from the 1st line to the 4th. But in the women's game, I'm not sending my 4th line center out where she can wind up matched against Julie Chu, because if she can hold her own in that matchup, she shouldn't be on the 4th line.
Yeah, you are looking at 7-8 minutes of ice per period for the top two lines, and 4-5 for the third line, with maybe a fourth line player getting some time on the PK if they happen to be good at it and a top line player isn't, or there has been a lot of special teams play and someone needs a breather for a bit.

Pep bands are different....there's a reason the UNH pep band played Rock 'N Roll Part II last weekend instead of the PA.
I went to the HEA championship last year as the "official" pep band, but other than that, it's up to the school whether they let me play.
In the NCAA tourney, my guess is that they don't consider you a pep band, especially without the BC ADs confirmation.
I gave you Hopkins name out of reflex, but thinking about it now, it makes sense. Quite simply, BC either needs to send their pep band, or put you in as their official representation.
With the exception of Keever who is tremendous, The people we have coming back are solid players but not 'nationally elite' to the point where you have four scary lines a la Wisco.
Actually, you have a bevy of elite players. Stack, McDonald, Thunstrom, Zavisa, Fardelman, Taverna, Ellison, and Shaus are all considered blue chip players.

They are grossly mis-interpreting the rules here. The venue must be treated as neutral, to that effect the arenas are not allowed to play goal songs over the PA, but bands are allowed to fill that role.
"Band members, not to exceed 25 in number, who are in uniform and performing at the championship, will not be charged admission to the competition. Bands, or any component thereof, are allowed to play during timeouts, between games, and before and after the competition."
2007 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championships Handbook: http://www.ncaa.org/library/handbooks/iceHockey/2007/2007_nc_w_ice_hockey_handbook.pdf
By "timeouts" they were refering to stoppages of play, a goal results in a stoppage of play.
What you need to do is contact the athletic department at Boston College so they can designate you as the pep band, then Dartmouth HAS to let you play, otherwise without being officially recognized by your school Dartmouth CAN refuse to let you play.
Shame on the Dartmouth College Athletic Department for choosing to selectively read and interpret the rules as they see fit (read: to their advantage).
