I am sure some players need more coaching than others when it comes to off the ice stuff. I wonder if what we see this year is Don taking a shorter leash with a very young and talanted team. He had no problems taking action with Briggs right out of the gates. Last year had to be disappointing with the whole blarney thing and the early exit from the tourney says the team had some issues focusing on the task at hand.

Lucia has already stated that he got a little too lax with last year's squad and he doesn't intend on making the same mistake again. Good for him. I'm just glad the gophers picked up 4 pts without their leading scorer on the ice.

I liked seeing Con's initial comment, once again implying that Hirsch is just a nucking fut, who should probably voluntarily commit himself when the season is over.
Anyone actually know why, specifically, he left school for a year? I sure don't. But there seems to be a lot of heresay and conjecture floating across these boards as to what state his mental health is in.
The one thing I do know is that everyone who does know the kid says he's not like your typical hockey player. He isn't all about getting drunk on off days, chasing tale, or making/laughing at the d*ck and c*nt jokes that one usually thinks of as a staple of a hockey locker room. He's a bit more quiet, and a lot more introverted.
Maybe he's just a lttle more emotional than most. Maybe His girlfriend of 4 years started cheating on him. Maybe he was going through the painful death of a beloved childhood pet.
Maybe its a bit of a stretch to assume the kid to be a psycho or mentally deranged because he was having a tough time within some aspect of his life.
My guess is we've all gone through something that made us act in a way most other people would consider oddball.

I guess I didn't see the derogatory posts. All I saw was someone asked how Hirsch was doing and the next thing I knew State of Hockey was there saying how Bina should learn how to skate better.

I was?

It might be someone else with a similar handle - this happened at siouxsports.com and the comment about Bina was pretty gross imho.

I don't think I have ever made fun of an injury or a hurt player. I have always considered an athletes off ice antics to be fair game. Stealing, DWI, punching out a cop, underage drinking, going to a worse school, etc are stuff people should be ashamed of, so I like to pile it on. Tyler Hirsch, I have no idea what his problem is, but I guess if you are the type of person that made fun of the kids riding the short bus, you should pile right on this wagon. I certainly have no standing to tell people to lay off, so I wouldn't even try.
I'm with Happy on this one. I really cannot climb on a high horse and criticize those who are making fun of Tyler Hirsch. Especially when he brought most of this on himself. I can't say I'd be jumping to Hirsch's defense if he played for a different school. Does that make me a bad person? I guess you'll have to decide for yourselves.

On a local radio show, Don Lucia said he is 50/50. However, he was more confident Hirsch would be back for the MSU-Mankato series.

Oh okay. Well just so everyone knows, I am not on Siouxsports, or GPL. Only on USCHO.

Sounds like the comment was disgusting.
