Our niece used to play for the Raiders. still keep an eye on the team. Lots of potential this year. Thought there might be some interest in a thread.

My daughter is going on an "official" visit to Colgate in the near future. Although we have never been to the campus, we have heard very good things about the coach, school, campus, etc.. She is familiar with many of the new skaters from past teams and tournaments. Their overall team speed should be improved with these new additions. Should be an interesting year.

Sam Hunt is an awesome player! She was one of Calgary's Midget AA best ever and a really nice kid to boot. Colgate is really lucky to have her. Elin Brown is a big talent and nice kid too.

From one dog to another... Sam Hunt is an awesome player and seems to be a really nice person...as so many Canadians are. I saw her play a couple of times last year. She is highly skilled and projects a refreshing modesty that is increasingly rare in today's world. As you know, if you looked at the "USA Hockey most under rated" thread, I am also a huge Dosdall fan. Again, quiet competence. Get the job done for the team. I get the feeling watching those two that it really is about the team. You have another of that type in Ali Edell. Small, but skates like the wind. I hope she translates to D-1. Keep your eye on her.

Team must be building for the future because the way they recruited in past 3 years with the exception of a few (Hunt definitely maybe one more) leaves a lot to be desired. In all fairness you will have to give the freshman class until at least the half way mark as they will need time to adjust to the level of play at Div 1.

Goaltending is untested & unproven after Wheeler. The year maybe a backward step :( giving the progress made in the past, especially as the ECAC quality will improve with Olympic players returning

I have heard great things about this team, lots of speed but very young. It will interesting to see how the coaches use these to their advantages against some of the more skilled and mature teams out there.

It is nice to see Carly McNaughton strong and healthy and racking up the points at the start of her senior season. She is a smart and savvy player. Watch out for freshman Katie Stewart and sophomore Elin Brown. Also, senior Ashley Bradford has come back this season with "guns blazing!" Brook Wheeler is off to a solid beginning between the pipes. Okay, I am biased - I spend a lot of qualilty time with this team off the ice as an adviser. The talent is evident and when they work together and loosen up and enjoy themselves, they play exceptionally well.

Colgate hosted #3 Mercyhurst and gave them a couple of solid games. The officiating was horrendously bad on many levels, which detracted from the pleasure of decent hockey.

Mercyhurst has an amazing rookie in Agosta - she is a force to be reckoned with. On Friday night, Colgate's blue line stepped up big for the two goals from defensemen Tara French and Mallory Johnston. Kiira Dosdall was another defender right there in the mix. Saturday afternoon was a physical game - Mercyhurst scored their three goals on the power play - unfortunately Dosdall was in the box each time or I doubt they would have had so many chances. Colgate played at a high level on Saturday. One team or the other had a one-player advantage for what felt like a majority of the game. I hope these refs get their act together real soon!

Refs are refs. No use whining about it. However looking at Colgate's stats this year they have allowed 16 power play goals in 8 games. You won't win many giving up this many shorthanded. Better stay out of the box.

Colgate 2, Dartmouth 1

Exciting finish to tonite's game. I bleed green but give credit where it's due - you folks should be very proud of your team!

It was the first time in four years that I did not travel with the team to Dartmouth - now I have to paint my face for a home game - it was the challenge to the seniors.

According to the coaches, Colgate actually had a better overall game against Harvard the night before. Colgate was up 3-2 with just over three minutes to go in the third when Harvard tied the game. It went about three minutes of overtime and Harvard scored the winning goal.

These are huge games for this program. The win against Dartmouth is a huge confidence booster.

No doubt about it, a very good weekend for Colgate. However, having watched both Harvard and Dartmouth play this year, I was surprised at how dependent both of these teams are on their national team players. With those players off the ice, these two teams are only slightly better than average teams. Colgate had the luck of the draw in scheduling these teams during the Four Nations Cup, and came away with two (almost four) points.

This team is getting closer to the top tier of women's hockey. A lot of talent and playing tough game against the best in the East. Tough loss to Princeton last weekend after outshooting them 39-26 but we need to get over the hump on a regular basis. I got a kick out of the comments from the earlier poster who questioned our recruiting. I think the freshmen have stepped up nicely onto a team that has a great sophmore class and solid senior leadership. The future is exciting if we can only figure out how to win these close games. The Hunt Brown connection from Calgary is awsome and I agree strongly Kira D can play this game. Not sure what is going on in goal, i.e. whether BW is injured or not, but Elena H is playing great. Would love to make it deeper in the playoffs this year, buy we play in the toughest conference there is..:)

I think you could take the top four players away from any of the top teams and draw a similar conclusion.

You've got to like Sam Hunt's play the last couple of games..hat trick last weekend, another tonight. she's 3rd in the ECAC in scoring..

Right now a horse race between Harv, Dart, Prin, Clksn, SLU and Gate..Should be fun down the stretch with some interesting playoffs. Cream will rise and depth favors Harv and Dar but both SLU and Princ look beatable... growing parity is making this league interesting..:)

kdog...do i know you?
probably.

hunt and brown are amazing hockey players and people, and they are a great little duo. a little crosby and armstrong action in the making.
i cant say im surprised to see their names in the box scores almost every single game.
hunt has speed, and great hands, and she can fire a puck anywhere she'd like.
brown used to be a defenseman, but it wouldn't stop her going end to end. i'm not surprised to see shes doing so well at forward.

they are huge talents, and they should go far.
i hope i see them playing for canada in 2010 or 2014. they definitely have the skills to be there someday.

and watch out for nicole mcdonald.
shes a great defenseman, and she doesn't take anything from the other team.
shes a one to watch.

GOOD LUCK GATE

Thanks Radar 3535, but I'm 40 years removed from campus and not as with it as you are. I really like the team, wish them well and only wish I could measure up to your standards so you might share your inside info with those of us who care about the team but from afar..
