Sorry, I'm a little late in getting this started and the puck has already dropped in season 3 (?) of the CHA.

Defending Champion and number-3 Mercyhurst is out of the box with resounding 5-2 and 8-1 wins over the Black Bears in Maine. Valerie Chouinard had a monster 4-goal and 7-point weekend to win this seasons inaugural CHA Offensive Player of the Week Award. Teammate Ashley Pendelton came away from the weekend with 3 assists, 7 shots, and a +2 rating to take away the Defensive Player of the Week award.

Niagara ran into a tough start getting clipped 5-0 and 4-3 (ot) by number-2 New Hampshire. Alison Malty assisted on two goals in the overtime loss and won the Rookie of the Week award.

Robert Morris started with a busy 3-game opening weekend. Friday the Colonials were shut out 4-0 by St. Cloud State and the next night the two teams skated to a 3-3 tie. Sunday, Robert Morris finished the weekend with a 6-0 loss to Minnesota State.

Wayne State has an exhibition win over Windsor under their belt.

:) I’m not sure if anyone wants to do the picking contest again this year. I’d love to get a volunteer to take the responsibilities. Just let me know. :)

Looking at this weekend;

Niagara opens their home schedule at Dwyer with a pair against Colgate.
Robert Morris is also at home with two vs. Boston University
Wayne State will open the season on the road with against St. Lawrence at the Appleton Arena.

I don't remember exactly how this was done in the past but I will start this off.

The Niagara series worries me the most (in regards to my picks) I think Cogate wins first game 4-2 and wins second game 3-2.

Robert Morris must have played decently this past weekend however still not as good as BU. I am taking BU in two shut out sweeps 5-0 and 6-0.

I am looking forward to seeing Coach Fetter's team improve again but I don't think they will have much success this weekend. St. Lawerence 5-2, 4-0.

Here's to hoping the CHA as a whole gets better. I am hoping for upsets galore this year.

My picks:
Mercyhurst sweeps
RMU sweeps

RMU is really showing some growth and goaltending is better than at Union.
Clarkson can be dangerous and Mercyhurst will have to attend to business with no let down (or slumps in end of first or in second period).

I will go with Mercyhurst and RMU to sweep

RMU will sweep Union, but Clarkson will gain a split with Mercyhurst.

Clarkson will gain a split with Mercyhurst.

This is an extremely ballsy pick but not out of the total realm of possibility. Just curious as to why you think there will be a split at Mercyhurst's home ice.

This is an extremely ballsy pick but not out of the total realm of possibility. If you go by last season's records (MC 23-8-6, Clarkson 22-14-1), it wouldn't be that big of an upset. As far as home ice, MC was 8-5-3 at home, Clarkson 11-8-1 on the road. I realize that it is a new year with new rosters and Mercyhurst has proven to improve every year, but then so has Clarkson.
