To change the subject to a more positive tenor.

PC's official announcment:

If you go to the lead page of the women's hockey area the picture next to the story is a much better looking picture of Bob Deraney.

Musical chairs?? how about the two Uof Minn/Duluth sophomore transfers, and the UMaine junior transfer Tangredi plus junior Feldman!! Really changes the dynamics of the team and player expectations...

sophomores Danielle Ciarletta (Blaine, Minn.) and Mari Pehkonen (Tampere, Finland) as well as junior Danielle Tangredi (London, Ontario)

If you cut to the chase the bottom line is for this team to do better then last year's team they have to take less penalties, in particular the defensemen who averaged something like 3 penalties a game. Its not like the 3 forwards transferring in even match the trio who graduated, you are going to need either a couple of the freshmen to step up or some of the sophomores and juniors to do so. I don't feel this is quite the same as Halcisak arriving to spark up the offense

Well if they can keep out of the box half as much as the were in last season it ought to be about the same as adding some offensive punch. The parade to the sin bin killed them, especially when the your power D was in as much as she was out.

Actually to an extent I can live with Gigliotti getting penalties. She's aggressive, yes certainly could play a bit smarter, and you don't like it when you watch and you can she it coming and she doesn't back off. However I have more problems with one of the D who routinely got beat and inevitably yanked someone down. There is nothing aggressive about her play, its just reactionary. Well maybe your Woburn pal might solve that problem for us by taking her playing time. Of course if she took any lessons on playing defense from the previous Woburn defender we had it won't ;)

The only way that could possibly look worse would be if he was picking his nose. Or dressing a deer carcass.

LMAO! I am in regular contact with the "previous" and we throw barbs at one another. I am now going to heave this depth charge her way. It will rattle her some, but she has a good sense of humor. When I pointed out the Gigliotti had broken her penalty record, she quickly pointed out that someone else had done it before her. "Hey, I am now third on the list, cut me some slack."

I have to wonder if the foot speed on the blue line is what it needs to be. In watching them play BC last year you could see the problems they had with the fleet Eagles. I don't see there being much of a boost with the new recruit. I do think that the sophs will be smarter players, and I know that there was some heavy off-ice work going on with them during the summer, so they might have improved their speed some.

I think she might be about 5th now though they might be counting Halcisak's minutes at OSU and that might be enough to slide her past. She never stood a chance once the SSM girls came on board.

She dropped in on my U10 practice tonight (refusing to help out lest she muss her hair with a helmet) and when I told her of the exchange she laughed. She said, "It wasn't my fault! Jackie Barto instructed me to bang bodies and rattle the other team's top players." To whit I responded "once a goon, always a goon" and then ran for my life. (not an easy thing in skates)

Once a Friar always a Friar;)

Hey do you know if Cach got to play in the East Coast as planned? Never heard any more after I think it was planned he was going to Bakersfield.
