Meh, it's all just a popularity contest. It's the only reason why half the people made it as far as they did. I mean, I'm a Simpsons fan and all, but Burns got way too far in this contest.

He's supposed to get his power from the yellow sun. It may not go away instantaneously but it will fade, if you hold to the idea that his power comes from the sun. Palpatine could hold off for a while, waiting for Zod's power to diminish, and then go in for the kill. There's no sun in Hades, in either Tartarus or the Elysian Fields.
