How far away is St Anselm's from being a final four team this next season? They seem to have a very big recruiting class.

Unfortunatly we are not allowed to participate in the D3 NCAA Tournament at the end of the year because we are a D2 team. It stinks because they are a very good team and are only getting better. Hopefully there can be future exceptions for the few D2 teams because they play D3 schedules and are just as good.

Hopefully we will be able to prove that this year when we play Bowdoin and Middlebury.

P.S Puckchaser, it is spelled St. Anselm. People pronounce it "anslem" but thats not the case. :)

The question of a DII school competing in a DIII NCAA Championship is not one involving the quality of the team, rather it concerns the issue of the DII team providing "athletically related financial assistance" aka athletic "scholarships."

Is it safe to say that maybe the hockey team doesn't give out "scholarships" but somewhere within the school's athletic program they are granted thus "disqualifying" that team?

From Saint Anselm's website:

"Athletic Scholarships:

Athletic scholarships are awarded to men and women basketball players only. The director of athletics will submit the names of possible recipients to the Office of Financial Aid, which will inform students of awards."
