I haven't seen Minnesota play, so I don't know what their strengths and weaknesses are. I'm not expecting a Princeton victory, but you never know with this team, because they are incredibly gritty and don't give up easily. It should be a low-scoring affair, as Princeton plays good D and has a good goalie (though she does suffer through periods of inconsistency). Lately, though, they've had problems on the penalty kill. They are excellent on the power play. They have three quality lines. If Greenwood or Pearce (the two top scorers) are shut down, they can turn to other players for goals.

I think the two teams are very similar, both in the distribution of scoring among players, their strengths -- even their seasons to date have followed very similar trends. Also, Princeton has a senior in net, while Minnesota may or may not have a freshman who has played like a senior (and doesn't Hanlon already have more playoff career wins (3) than Gaudiel (2) anyway?). And even Chartier is no stranger to postseason games from her NWHL career. Very tough to predict, just as a 4-5 game should be. Probably you have to give the edge to the team with home ice.

That and experience in post season play have certainly got to be an edge. It would be nice to see Princeton advance and create more of a stir in the Greater Philly area.

Pretty good. There's one syllable that could use work, but overall, not bad.

Way to go Gophers!! The score does not accurately tell the story in this one. The Tigers dominated play throughout the 2nd and Minnesota had to consider themselves lucky to be up going into the 3rd...could have easily been down a couple...or more. Princeton did a nice job in their own end for much of the game, blocking shots and moving the puck out. Fine job by Brittony in goal tonight. On to Mariucci...earn your shot and roll the dice. ;)

Little "Rumble at Ridder" included in tonights action.

GO GOPHERS!!

the radio guys said that they were lucky that the ref was being lenient and there might have been DQ's.. was it that bad?

As for the faceoff time next week, I would have to think UNH-Minnesota would be the later game. Usually the one with more local interest gets that spot.

.. was it that bad?It was wrestling, but between the principle's the wrestling lasted longer than you usually see. As far as "bad", I didn't think it was on the level of the scrum we had last year vs. Brown, where Guay took a run at Horak from behind and Wendell flattened her. In that one, Guay was DQ'ed, but Wendell wasn't. I think the call made in this case was the correct one, because what the official wants to do is control the situation and make sure that there isn't any more nonsense. The game hadn't been particularly rough up until that point (most of the other penalties had been for trips, etc.), so a couple of misconducts, a few minors, and a little time for the coaches to get their charges settled down worked well.
