In overall statistics, including conference and non-conference, who is leading all freshman scoring in forwards and defence? Anyone find this out for me, i don't know where to look.

go to upper boxes and bring down national stats in the right hand box and then bring down division 1 women on the left hand box.......scroll down till you see rookies scoring

Thanks...looks like it's not really too close in defenceman scoring but forward scoring its a tight race at the top. VanderHoeven is leading D by 4 and Boal leading forward by a few with Chouinard right up there as well.

Great - now pick 3 F, 2 D, and 1 G -- that's what the conference is going to have to do.

I'd be pretty stunned if it wasn't Chouinard, Boal, and Poynton. People will go with the stats by team unless there's a good reason not to. Chouinard's going to be ROY regardless of whether Boal or Poynton pass her in the league scoring race, I think -- she's the top scorer on the conference champion.

I don't think everyone should get all hung up on stats. Girls playing on "weaker" teams may have fewer points than those on stronger teams. So just because player A has 30 points while player B has 20 points does not make player A a better player. While plus minus is probably a better stat to use for defensmen instead of points.

I am willing to listen. What makes you think McLaughlin is the best freshman goalie in the league?

I have only seen her play two games against Wayne state and she held them to 4 goals a game, yet made at least 40 other saves those games. She's holding up a weaker team so I think, and I believe she is most of the reason why they were able to beat Niagara. Although this isn't proven right really, as she did let in was it 7 goals each game against Wayne or 8? Couldn't tell you but i know it was high. Who else were you thinking?

Who else were you thinking?

Courtney Drennen of Mercyhurst. She hasn't lost a game she has started. I think she is the best goalie in the league irregardless of her being a freshman. I know she is the backup goalie right now to Laura Hosier but I personally think she is better. She is extremely athletic and the quarterback of the team when she is on the ice.

Yeah she may be good too, i personally have not seen her play. Good to know mercyhurst has another goalie cause Hosier can be off her game every other day. You are right though, i have heard some good things of her as well

Drennen has only played in 3 conference games. I wonder if those voting expect the players to achieve some participation threshold in order to receive consideration. For example, goalies have to play a third of their team's minutes to show up in the conference stats.

Yea but the all-rookie team isn't just based on conference statistics either...

I'll change my voting after last weekend and talking with a few folks-

F- Sam Poyton, and Boal from WSU
F- Valerie Chouinard, MC

D- Tina Vanderhoeven, WSU
D- Natalie Payne, MC

G- Courtney Drennen, MC without a doubt, hands down over McLaughlin.

One of the reasons McLaughlin's stats are as good as they are is teams stopped taking quality scoring opps once up by 5. I know that's the way it was last weekend with Wayne State.

Just the opposite, when Drennen was in the oppostition saw that as an opportunity to notch a few without Hosier in net so she faced the toughest of tasks.

I concur -

F- Valerie Chouinard, MC
F- Poyton and Boal, WSU

D- Tina Vanderhoeven, WSU
D- Natalie Payne, MC

G- Courtney Drennen, MC no question.

No RMU or NIA impressed me at all and I've been to every Warrior game

Ok so mostly secure on the 3 forwards and Vanderhoven for defence...maybe after the weekend more predictions on the other D and goalie will be secured.

MIC, what are you now, a goalie "guru"?,.....heck, you can't even get your neighbor to clean up his backyard, so how can you make such a statement about Courtney???,.....she's very good, no question, but somebody seems to think the other MC goalie is better,.....never mind goalie world, you belong at Wally World!!!,.....and you can take that to the bank!!!,.....
