I guess the only surprise is that Neumann (7) is ahead of Bowdoin (8) in this poll but is not on any other polls...what makes this one different?

Bowdoin is also below Neumann and Williams in the East Pairwise rankings. Bowdoins losses to elmira and Utica this weekend really hurt them in the rankings that matter because not only were they 2 losses but losses to ranked teams.

Bowdoin is 1-8 versus ranked teams, while Neumann is 0-4. No one, except Camman and MICzamboni, expect Neumann to make it past plattsburgh in the NESCAC tournament...so these last few rankings like 6-10 aren't too terribly important. Their main purpose is for the results vs ranked opponents for the upper teams. At least in my opinion.

I would imagine that the reason for Neumann being ranked ahead of Bowdoin can be found in what I consider the NCAA's somewhat non-sensical method of taking certain regional results into account and ignoring others, and also not really looking at strength of schedule factors. I have seen this result in regional rankings in Lacrosse and Soccer, where you might see a team ranked in the top 10 or 20 nationally be ranked, for regional ranking purposes, below a team which would not appear in the national rankings.

Neumann is the beneficiary of playing a weak schedule where others teams loaded up on potentially ranked opponents. Look through the pairwise comparisons and you can see some of the benefits for Neumann and UMass Boston in playing the schedule they played this year.

Your Neumann record is not correct. They are 1-5-1 against ranked teams. (And the win on December 31 against an un-named ranked team is what started the "Neumann Knights" thread. ;) )

This one's for coach Bateman:

Plattsburgh knows they can't maintain their pace all the way through --they are do for a fall --they know it -- and will be on edge -- you have had the advantage of playing in that barn before -- the players will be comfortable and no bruises too boot -- match the line lines -- let the big players take no prisoners - let the little horses run - your goalie will carry the team as far as she can -- remember they are as young as you are -- settle them down through 8 minutes-- and then let them wheel -- could be a memorable weekend-- and no doubt will set the table for next year --best of luck

Hey Mr Deremer is USCHO ever going to include the NCAA rankings in its pairwise rankings for the d3 women?
