Heck, if not run, at least don't do your whole "take off my batting gloves" routine.
That was an inside the park home run for anybody who runs it out.
Maybe so but isn't that just one of those things that you Sox fans tolerate as "Manny being Manny?" :p

So Clay Hensley, cash, and a player to be named later for Mark Loretta.
Nice.
Kevin Towers is an idiot.

.
I'm not sure it was necessary, but considering what we're giving up, this is great!!!

It's Cla Meredith. And I dont like the deal. Cla is pretty **** good, and added a changeup this year that's really helped him. I'm sad to see him go.

You can't seriously believe it wouldn't be at least a run higher if he were still pitching for the Sox, can you?
Exactly. He has a weird delivery and he's fooling batters who have never seen him before. That ERA will go up once they figure him out.

Seanez should not pitch. Period
He deserves a chance to bring that ERA down after the numbers he posted last season.

So you'd rather have Clement's 6.50 in what's supposed to be the "strong" part of the season instead of an Arroyo in the mid 3's? Or even a 4 or 4.5?
Hell I'd take it... and I believe Arroyo continues to improve, with or without the Sox... he'll never be a #1 but he's a solid #3 or #4 guy who seems to improve w/ experience.
Great move getting DM back...

He can have that chance in mop-up duty...

Not a PTBNL. The other player was Bard. Pretty good. "We'll give you our crappy catcher for your good catcher."

I love Mira, but I wouldnt call him good. 'Servicable' is a better adjective.

We'll give you our catcher who can't catch, for your catcher that can.
And for Mark Loretta, a bunch of stinky players.
For Mark Loretta, you would think they would have at least gotten one arm, maybe Abe Alvarez, to go into that rotation.

When it comes to being a back up catcher almost exclusively catching knuckleballs, I'd call 'Belli very good. He's decent offensively and after watching Bard struggle, I think we all have a better appreciation for 'Belli's defensive skills. The guy who was traded for him had so many passed balls that MLB was considering renaming the stat "passed Bards."

I must've missed the part where the Padres have a knuckleballer to worry about.
Doug Mirabelli is a generic veteran backup catcher whose bat is a Fenway mirage. Josh Bard is pretty much the same player, only eight years younger so he has more upside. That's already an even deal for San Diego. Meredith is just a free prospect.
The Loretta/Mirabelli trade was remarkably stupid and pointless, but I don't see how anyone could spin this new deal as a bad one for Towers.

Wakefield is comfortable with Mirabelli. Doug adds some additional pop as well. He's as good a backup catcher as you could ask for in my opinion.
