And I wanted old Bret Boone to show up. Second basemen age fast.

Yeah, but Boone was a roid-freak, and Loretta had a terrible thumb injury. I'm just hoping 2004 Loretta will show up, I mean, he was looking good in plate appearances...taking some good pitches...and you look at the numbers...and yikes, he's been barely above the Mendoza line.

And I'd like Arroyo's 4-0 2.34 era this season!!You can't seriously believe it wouldn't be at least a run higher if he were still pitching for the Sox, can you?

He won four of his last six starts. That's how it ended.

It is extremely painful watching Matt Clement pitch.

Yeah, well, I'm getting to watch Brad Radke, trust me, the Twins will trade ya.

Mike Lowell reminds me so much of Kevin Millar at the plate.

I think the Lenny DiNardo Experience should come to an end fairly soon...

ARGH:

Bronson looks good in a Red Sox uniform right now with woes they're going through. He got off to a good start last year too but faltered a bit after a similar start. It's be interesing if Arroyo can better his record last year. He's proven that he's no more than a 4th or 5th starter on a team.

Clement got off to a great year last season before his 2nd half swoon.

Clement has had a 2nd half swoon every year of his career.... last year's first half was the exception to the rule.. he always starts ok/decent (except this year which I would barely qualify as mediocre), last year he just started incredibly well - I think a #4 or #5 starter (or both) would be a fantastic addition to the Sox right now given Clement/DiNardo and Arroyo started and ended the season well. I'd give my left nut to have seen them trade Clement rather then Arroyo. I don't doubt long term it was a decent trade, but with all the question marks (the ones that some of you claimed were barely even question marks in offseason) in their starting rotation it was a terrible move for this season.

So now who? DiNardo I believe has proven he isn't a reasonable alternative... Think it's time to bring someone up from the PawSox - a shame Lester has been so horrible this season.

Heck, if not run, at least don't do your whole "take off my batting gloves" routine.

That was an inside the park home run for anybody who runs it out.

I dont put a ton of stock into Lester sucking yet. Sometimes guys in his situation will be forced to throw a pitch more than they normally would, or work on certain stuff that leads them to getting shelled.

Alvarez has looked sharp, not sure why his name isnt being mentioned.

Ideally, Papelbon would be a starter but I don't think strengthening the starting rotation to weaken a lights-out bullpen with Pap and Foulke and a Timlin is the right move until Hansen is ready to close in the future. Foulke is very valuable as a lefty coming out of the pen even though it's not his familiar closer role.

Other than Wells coming back, they have to try other people from the farm or look for another starter via a trade or sign Clemens for the rest of the year at a hefty $$$$$ price.

When Crisp comes back, I'd like Youkilis to stay in the #2 spot and move Loretta to the #7 spot since he's not hitting. Hopefully, Loretta should start hitting soon to bolster the bottom of the order. Ortiz and Ramirez need people to get on base in front of them. What's killing them is having Loretta hit .219, and the shortstop hitting even worse.

One of Wakefield's problem is no support from the offense and having no catcher to catch his knuckleball. Right now, the #3, #4, and #5 spots in the rotation are looking really weak right now.

The Red Sox Report this week (airs tonight at 10:30, NESN) features Jonathan Papelbon's life of baseball. Also a nice little piece on Delcarmen, and a couple minutes with Portland closer Edgar Martinez. The show reruns Monday at 5 if you miss it. watch!
