Yes, I just said that. In the post you quoted.

Anyway, I thought pitching to him was a dumb move, and when Remy pointed out how shallow Branyan was, you knew Manny was going to go right field - and he did. He almost didn't get away with it, but drove in 2 runs.

No you didn't. I said something different. The decision of pitching to Manny is irrelevant if the manager has Branyan positioned where he should be.

Oh yeah?

Different note: anyone figure out why the Devil Rays pitched to Manny with 2 outs and 1st base open? Furthermore, why was the right fielder playing so shallow? Had he been even close to normal depth, it would have been a routine line drive out.
Manager had short-term memory on that one. The real problem there was the positioning of Branyan. If he is in good position he makes that catch easily.

Wow.

Okay, you had two points. I had one. I disagreed that pitching to Manny was a problem. My point was simply that if Branyan is positioned correctly the inning is over. That was the only managerial mistake in my opinion. I hope that cleared it up for you.

Anyway, it doesn't seem like they're going to need Papelbon tonight. :D

You did give me what I perceived to be a smug response when I firsted quoted you, but I agree about Papelbon.

Let Schilling go 7 and then get Seanez and/or Tavarez some work.

Too bad Schilling or Beckett are not scheduled to pitch against the Blue Jays this weekend. They are scary offensively and if they can win 1 game, I'd take that especially with the bottom of the rotation scheduled to pitch.

Actually, I take that back. Wakefield is scheduled for tomorrow and Becket pitches on Friday.

Great inning by Foulke. Great win. 11-4.

Stern sent down, Willie Harris called up. Somewhat surprising, I figured he'd go down when Crisp was back. Stern's rocking the .150 AVG, so I guess it makes sense.

I think it's more Stern needs AB's (like Youk 2 years ago). Stern has proved he does belong.

I was curious if Wilson would get called up, but I guess Harris has speed which can actually help some.

Not surprising that Stern went down, but I thought they'd wait for Coco to come back, too. Can't hurt to have a guy like Harris around as a SB threat in pinch running situations, though.

Dustin Mohr with the home run, eh...you don't hear that often. 1-0 Sox.

"What's there to do in Philly"?

Is it possible that they could run this g-**** commercial more than they already do?!! ARGH.

No, I don't normally post here, because I generally don't care about Boston baseball.

That said: Lo, and Jake said..."Go Sox." (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c200/eaziecheeze/DSCN0124.jpg)

If you're talkin' commercials, is there any commercial worse than the stupid Dunkin Donuts commercial plastered all over the place these days? that stupid jingle, one of the worst, EVER, makes me want to kick stuff.

But Josh, "doing things is what I like to do!" :p

BTW - Can't this team score runs for Wakefield?

Couldn't agree more! The worst line by far in that commercial is "It's like a baby New York." If that were for Boston, I think I'd have to hunt down that actor.

Prediction: Wakefield will lead the league in innings pitched and still have a losing record in '06.

maybe they should go to the bullpen instead of losing the game

maybe they should go to the bullpen instead of losing the game

When should they go to the bullpen, after the first earned run or the second?

And how would the bullpen help the Sox get a hit with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th?

Considering the fact that the Sox only scored 1 run, I'm gonna go ahead and say that pitching is not the problem.

Maybe they should score some runs instead of losing the game.

nothing is worse than the new dunkin donuts commercial...
