If any Red Sox fans are planning on going to the weekend series at Philadelphia in May, pay attention. Tickets go on sale officially on Wednesday, but there is a presale going on right now.

Go on to the Phillies website and purchase tickets to the 4/2 spring training game vs. Boston (you dont need to buy them). Before checking out, click the additional games tab and scroll down to the Red Sox games in May and pick one and add it/them to your cart.

Before checking out, delete the spring training game you selected earlier and check out. That weekend series is going to be a tough ticket, but I was able to snag some for that weekend.

Go Sox.

I'm taking the boy to Washington for the weekend, gonna hit Orioles at Nats on Saturday night and Sox at Phils on Sunday afternoon. Can't wait for baseball this year.

a couple of crazy pals and I are discussing an April road trip... heading up to Toronto on Sat April 22 and catching the Sox/Toronto game on Sunday, then driving to Cleveland for Sox/Cleveland Tuesday April 25 and heading home Wed...
not sure if we'll be able to pull that off, but it could be fun

This is certainly odd, but I wouldn't read too much into it.

Maybe he really did go to Italy :D

Typical Manny-catering by the FO, but at this point it's too late to put their foot down. As long as he shows up on 3/1, this won't be an issue. If he decides he needs even more time for his "extensive training regimen" and doesn't show, then it becomes a larger issue.

He's going to show up on March 1, then leave the next day to go play in the WBC.

did something like that last July. drove to Balt and went to see Mets play Nats, then Sox at Camden. on the way back to boston stopped and caught Nats play at Phils, then Indians at the Bronx last day. four parks in four days.

the kids wore their Sox hats at Yankee Stadium. only person says anthing was a Cop. he had a big smile and walked up to them and ask what they were doing wearing those hats in there.

I wore a sox hat at a Yankees/Mariners game at Yankee Stadium and didn't even get a word...

My new lady friend, her family has season tickets to fenway... I think she's a keeper ;)

He's on the DR's roster, but most people are expecting him to pull out of the WBC soon. That being said, he'll probably wind up going.

OC says Manny still wants out (Boston Herald) (http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=127429&format=text)

" Cabrera, the shortstop on the Sox’ 2004 World Series champions, said Ramirez would prefer a city with more low-key fans and media.

“I think that’s what he’s looking for,” he said. “You know, as Latinos, we’re not used to that atmosphere at all. We think you show up, do your job and that’s it. In Boston, you have to have that relationship with the media. He doesn’t have that.”

1) Aren't Latino fans considered some of the most passionate baseball fans in the world? 2) I've got a real simple answer for Manny: Don't show up, get your contract voided, go play for whoever you choose. You can leave that $57 mil over three years sitting right on the table.

How is the Phil's park? It looks sweet. I drive by the Eagle and Philly stadiums all the time. Both look state of the art (from the hwy).

I'm really starting to get tired of the media and it's "All Manny talk, all the time" thing. He'll show up. If he doesn't, he won't get paid. If he pulls the "I don't want to play", he won't get paid. It's really that simple. I know it's February and there's nothing to talk about (other than the Olympics maybe?), but Christ Almighty. God I hate our media.

very nice. lots of room, things to do with the kids. great view. even the top deck, though high, is right on top of the field. we walked up to get a look. --as you notice though the only drawback is it's smack dab in the middle of nothing.

Good. I love it when Steinbrenner gets involved. It never works out well for the MFYs. I'm sure Cashman loved those comments, too. Fresh on the heels of winning the power struggle with the Yanks Tampa Management division, he's got to deal with a more active Big Stein. I can't wait for their first slump.

Manny's out of the WBC (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/)

Not really a surprise, but definitely a good thing. Can you imagine how nuts the papers would have gone if Manny showed up for one day then took off?

Also noted, JT Snow is wearing # 84 in honor of his father, Jack, who recntly passed away and played for Notre Dame and in the NFL.

It's great, very nice, state-of-the-art facility.

It's great, very nice, state-of-the-art facility.Agreed -- it's gorgeous... as nice as the Vet was awful. All they need now is a team and a fan base. :D

Am headed there on April 1st to see the Phils play our Sox in a final preseason tussle...

Pitching Coach Dave Wallace out for the year (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2006/02/24/wallace_likely_out_for_year/?rss_id=Boston.com+--+Red+Sox+News)

The Sox pitching coach position is becoming the equivalent of the Spinal Tap drummer's stool. Obviously, this is not a good start to the year. Let's hope that Nip is a better pitching coach his second time around.
