Should be a good game. If Plattsburgh loses will it hurt them in the polls?

It shouldnt one bit...
I have always been a firm believer in the fact that D1 games should not influences pollsters decisions especially if you lose. Its not fair to compare D1 teams to D3 teams because D1 is whole different level of play.
Good luck to Plattsburgh...but its going to be awful tough to beat RPI. They have really improved over the last 2 years and they are a definite force to reckon with.
I agree, it will be a good game and it won't hurt Plattsburgh in the polls if they lose. I like to see a few of these D1 vs. D3 matchups in the schedules. When RPI was D3 they always had a few games against some of the lower level D1 teams and it was always something that the players got up for and they had a pretty good record against D1. I would think that the challenge is to convince a D1 team to put one of these games on their schedule, because there seems to be nothing but downside for them. That's probably why we have never seen Cornell play Elmira despite their proximity. Maybe now that Cornell has improved to the point that they could probably beat Elmira they might agree to a game. ;).

I take it RPI is a DI independent, any plans to join a league in the future?

Next season to complete the ECACHL. This season is their transition year and their "ease into DI" season.

I agree as they have been eased into the league,.....as I have said in a previous post, look for all the ECAC teams to have a little bit more of a game face on next season when the games are no longer, NON CONFERENCE,.....I don't expect the Engineers to be able to sneak up on anybody in the league, and the growing pains/adjustment to D-1 hockey will continue,.....
