Pretty much...you would think that both Utica and Elmira would get Pool C bids before Bowdoin would now...But you never know
I would feel much safer if Elmira won the ECAC West...Im not sold that they are going to get a Pool C bid if they lose in the ECAC West finals...if they lose to Utica in the semis its definitely over.

According to the Pairwise rankings on USCHO.com, Bowdoin has now dropped to #8 in the east, behind Neumann and Williams (in addition to Elmira, Utica, and the three league leaders).
Barring upsets in the conference tourneys, it looks like Elmira vs. Utica in the ECAC West tourney could be an elimination game for the NCAA tournament. The winner would probably be in line for a Pool C bid, while the loser would probably be done.
Of course, the Pairwise rankings still don't account for record vs. ranked teams. I'm not sure whether including that would affect the rankings at all.
Edit: If you look at the National Pairwise right now, if the favorites win their tourneys, all three of the at-large bids would be out west. The top seven are Plattsburgh, Middlebury, Manhattanville, GAC, UWSP, UWS, and St. Thomas.....

spwood,
Are you serious that St Thomas could get an at-large bid after a loss to Concordia this past weekend?

If you look at the National Pairwise Rankings it looks like right now St Thomas and Elmira are tied. But thats not including results against ranked teams. St Thomas is well ahead of Utica and Bowdoin..the next two teams after elmira. Williams and Neumann are ranked ahead of Bowdoin in the eastern PWR...but when u take into account their games against non-eastern teams..they drop behind bowdoin again.
Right now Elmira is 6-5 versus ranked opponents, while St Thomas is 1-2-1 vs ranked in the west and 2-3-1 vs ranked nationwide. So i'm thinkin if it ended right now Elmira would get in over St Thomas.
Probably the best scenario for getting the 4 teams from the west in would be to have Elmira lose to Utica in the ECAC-W playoffs..or to have St Thomas beat GAC in the MIAC tourney. But still it would also have to depend on the NCAA putting both Stevens Point and Superior in as well...which i think right now both teams are deserving off it. Right now Superior is 4-2-1 against ranked opponents. Stevens Point is 4-2-2 in the west and 4-4-2 nationwide.

If four teams from the west did make it in..it would be interesting to see that first round match ups. It would either be Stevens Point vs GAC and UWS vs St thomas or the other way around.
they wouldn't put the conference pairs together. Would they look at the fact that Point played GAC this season but not St thomas and UWS played St thomas and not GAC? or would it go by seeding...?

It will go by seeding.. but the NCAA has thier own special way of seeding
Keep in mind.. travel.. they dont like to pay for it
Thier is a very good chance for the west to have 4 teams
It looks like one of the top teams in the East will be the host for the Final Four

Im not so certain of that...If the West gets 4 teams into the tournament...the NCAA might take their chance to get the tournament in the west finally as they would only have to fly 2 teams west...the same as they would have to fly east. The pressure has to be mounting on the NCAA committee to get the tournament in the west atleast once.

Although your logic is right.. i would find it hard to believe the NCAA would overlook Midd or Plattsburgh the right ot host

While there might be "pressure" on the Committee to put the tournament in the west, with probably the top 3 teams in the country all in the East, it would be a travesty to take the tourney away from a deserving team because this may be the only chance the west gets to host the tourney. Imagine the discussion on this board, though.

Yah but their number 1 rule is to avoid conference matchups in the first round. St Thomas and GAC are both in the twin cities area. Which is about 2.5-3 hours from Superior and 3.5 hours from point...so theres not really much to consider i guess. I would think GAC would be #1 in the west, Superior #2, Point #3, and St Thomas #4...which would put it as a GAC/Point and SUperior/St Thomas...
Of course if they all get in. I would love to see it out west this year. I think next year will be a great chance for it being out west. Superior will only be losing Nadine Aubin..who i think should be considered an all-american this year and Kristy Faechner who has been splitting about half and half with freshman Rikki Nespor this year and another defense Tara Evoy..who has been big but not as big as Aubin and then Gretchen Dahl..who doesn't see a ton of time. I think Superior will have an excellent shot at winning it all next year if they don't make it this year. And heck the mens FF will be at UWS, why not the women's too.

I am definately not one in the know.. but i've never heard of pressure to host the tournament out West
i think the Prez is reading to much to what folks say on this board
can you imagine if a team finished 1st all season and then the NCAA said.. sorry you cant host
Guess we'll all have to wait to see the NCAA Final 7 ranking.. and who they rank 1st

Especially riding a 9 game win streak here at the end. I believe if they beat Utica in round1 of the ECAC W tournament they will be in.

Only if there aren't significant upsets for the autobid in other leagues. d3 hockey is becoming more competitive. Other than Plattsburgh, teams might have records like 20-2 but they did lose some games and some of those losses were to some of the mid-level teams.
