Most users on line at a time

I have been starting this thread for several years now. This is last year's thread (http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=46211). In the past, I have posted it on the D-I board, but it probably really should be here.

Each year, the USCHO boards have, not surprisingly, their peak usage during the playoffs. On the bottom of the front page of the USCHO.com Fan Forum, there is a line reading "Most users ever online was 814, 03-14-2004 at 09:30 PM." Will we break this record this year, and if so by how much? Last playoff season (perhaps due to the loss of Findlay fans ;) ), we did not set a new record.


Here are several past highs:

Most users ever online was 814, 03-14-2004 at 09:30 PM.
Most users ever online was 772, 03-13-2004 at 09:44 PM.
Most users ever online was 637, 03-12-2004 at 09:36 PM.
Most users ever online was 573, 03-06-2004 at 09:50 PM.
Most users ever online was 568, 03-07-2003 at 09:27 PM.
Most users ever online was 478, 03-08-2002 at 09:29 PM.

The times above are all EST.


Feel free to enter your exact guess and date and time when the maximum will be reached this season. (The time looks like it is always around 9:30 PM EST.)

After not breaking the record all of last season, it is quite surprising that the record was broken before the playoffs start.

Actually, that may have a measurable impact on things. Down in DIII land, it wasn't more than two years ago that the same threads would be at the top all week, whereas now all the good ones get knocked down to the middle of the page within the hour by all your SUNYAC noobs. And that's just the posters - I would venture that the lurkers may be growing at an even greater rate (SUNYAC and ECAC-W in particular). Might be able to get a read on it by seeing if there is a spike opening NCAA DIII weekend (especially with there potentially being 4 SUNYAC/ ECAC-W teams in the field)

I was being semi-serious. The playoffs have started in DIII, and lately there are a lot of n00bs and people posting who hadn't posted before. There're probably 20 new SUNYAC posters this season, not to mention lurkers or people looking for score updates from other schools.

Color me impressed. I didn't think the record would actually be broken since it had lasted for two years. I'm not sure if it will get much higher than this since many teams' fans won't have reason to all be on at the same time once their team is gone.
