Hey, how about that Robert Morris College team (not the one from Pittsburgh) turning in two big wins over Buffalo State last weekend with Ashley Boye getting the Hat Trick. Two tough contests with Michigan State coming up.
Head Coach John Burke (not the one from RPI) seems to be doing a good job and Assistant Chris Chelios (not the one from the Red WIngs) also.
Anyone have anything to add?

Hey, how about that Robert Morris University team (not the one from Chicago) turning in two impressive battles with Wayne State last weekend holding the Warriors to 4 goals in each contest and scoring three themselves. Bet everyone thought it would be a cake-walk. Two tough contests with Niagara coming up.
Head Coach Jody Katz seems to be doing a good job filling in untli Nate Handrahan comes over next season from the Men's squad.
Anyone have anything to add?

Agreed even though the team is 1-18 overall they have played a few competitive games. I hope they continue to play better

O.K. This is VERY strange. I distinctly created two seperate threads ... one ROBERT MORRIS COLLEGE and one ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY and they existed as two seperate and unique threads for exactly 14 minutes. Then they were miraculously merged into a single thread and we are back to the old same dilemma.
Must be a de-duplicating mechanism within the posting board.
I give up.

This team is definatly going in the right direction.A 0-0 tie against Niagra and a 1-0 win also!Their goaltending has been excellent all year. They are sticking together, playing tough and they are not giving up.Their hard work is paying off as their scores indicate.

Slapshot: Wrong thread, you want the RMU thread not thr RMC thread. Robert Morris College beat Chatham last weekend 9-1 and 9-1. I have to say the Chatham girls play hard from start to finish. It can't be easy skating with 8 or 9 players each game. If they can bring in some recruits they may bring home a few points

I think the men's assistant (new Head coach) was behind the bench for th Niagara weekend and perhaps previous, can anyone confirm this?

RMC has done quite well this year against some of the lower NCAA III teams. Although they lost twice to Neumann they beat St. Kates twice, beat St. Ben's twice (both MIAC), and beat Chatham twice.
Of course, none of these are top teams but still RMC can play.
Now my question is, why don't they join the NCAA Division III?
They would be a great addition to the NCHA. Teams could schedule Lake Forest and the Lady Eagles in one Illinois trip. It would also move the NCHA one team closer to an automatic berth in the playoffs. Finally, it would bring a lot more recognition to the RMC maroon and gold.
Why not?

Robert Morris College is an NAIA school, in order for them to play NCAA D1 or D3 the school would have to apply and be accepted in the NCAA.

Thank you for making that point, Snapshot. However, I still think that it would be a benefit both to RMC and to the NCHA, not to mention the players and the fans.
I just went to the NAIA website, which is http://naia.collegesports.com/sports
In that site, they list the sports that are sponsored by the NAIA. The winter sports are Basketball, Swimming and Diving, Indoor Track and Field, and Wrestling. All but Wrestling have a women's division.
Notably absent from that list is hockey, either women's or men's. So there seems to be no way that a school can be NAIA in hockey. That is why RMC and some others have club teams, that they treat as varsity.
I'm simply suggesting that the hockey go NCAA. It appears to be the only non-club venue in town!
So what would be the problem with RMC joining the NCAA for hockey? Is it money? Substantially higher fees than NAIA? Would it have to be for all sports? Would other sports like Basketball have to give up playing traditional rivals?
Does anyone know?
:)
PS Trying to get more western teams going! I'll rant about getting St. Scholastica next!

I have no idea and I don't think Albert Einstein could figure this out,.....I have an idea who might know; either gojackets or scoopandroll-they seem to have an answer for everything,.....

So why would these girls choose to go play hockey for a club team instead of a legitimate varsity (NCAA) team if they're really any good? What is it that makes RMC an attractive college choice? I'd say it's a widely accepted truth that the NCAA schools (DI and DIII) are where to go to play college hockey. I'm know this will seem like I'm being negative about club hockey and RMC. I'm not trying to. I just want to know what the attraction is.

Additional question...why does a club team have a thread in this category, when there is a category for club teams...but as many know RMC is hardly a club team.

I'm sure all the recruits were told they would be playing in the NCHA within the next 2 years. ;)
