Ex-Middlebury stud freshmen Tory MacNeil will be joining the purple and gold of Elmira for the 2nd half of the season.

MacNeil was a big part of the Middlebury's championship run last season scoring 12 goals and assisting on tying her for 3rd on the team in goals scored and 8th in points.

Nice pick-up for Elmira. They could use the extra player and im sure her speed and goal scoring ability will help the team try and make a 2nd half push back towards the top of the polls and get that record up to where it should be.

Word is that Utica also will be picking up a talented transfer next semester in Clarkson transfer Jill Nolan. Nolan is a junior who was a leading scorer for the Golden Knights in her first two seasons.

Only leading scorer in her sophomore season...3rd leading scorer in her freshmen year.

However, very interesting indeed if this is true if Nolan a proven player at the D1 level transfers down to D3. She had to be getting tons of ice time...Very surprising indeed. Maybe didnt have the grades to stay in Clarkson? or bad fall out with Seeley?

What are the rules on this from NCAA? Can they simply transfer midseason, with no sitting out-bench time? Free agency?

Free agency?

"I'm paying" agency.....Stetem is dead on...in D3 there's no athletic scholarships so if there wasn't an academic eligibility issue you're free to decide if you want to move. But you use an entire year even though they will playonly 2/3 the games.

MacNeil had to sit out one semester...thats the rules for D3 and she has done that so she can suit up next semester.

She may have not gotten a release, and had to sit, but with a release you can play immediately in DIII

Regarding Jill Nolan from Clarkson,
even for transfering schools have an academic standards that have to be met. But then I know of one other on the Clarkson team that is over her head in regards to academics..

Seely pulled in some big time players hockey wise but weak in grades, so it wouldn't surprise me if one fell by the wayside over time. I am sure that he has to pull in some brains to balance out the teams GPA.

Nolan's leaving the Clarkson team has nothing to do with academics. She quit the team and decided to transfer in order to pursue hockey somewhere other than Clarkson.

A practice that shouldn't even be allowed - kids should be accountable for their own academic performance. Counting on a teamates good GPA to keep another player or the team overall out of hot water, academically speaking, is a practice that should be done away with. I don't know how a school feels this will develop any given students work ethic or in any way prepare them for lifes challenges.

Jill Nolan...amazing player hopefully she will be happy in Utica. Too bad Platty didn't have to face Utica with the likes of that girl. She can do some damage. very talented.

Agreed about Jill as a hockey player,.....sometimes players end up at the wrong school but NOT very often when a Laurie Charpentier is working as a mentor in the whole recruiting process,.....obviously, it's been a mistake on somebody's part with something that involves Jill as a student/athlete at Clarkson, and you never want to see this happen to anyone or any program, but it does,.....I'm abit surprised she didn't test the D-1 waters, but then again, maybe she did,.....this kid's a pretty good hockey player, and she has the potential to be a top player at the D-3 level,.....

Hey it must just kill Mic Zamboni that these two transfers are going to the two schools who are his beloved Neumann's biggest competitors.

Well sure it makes the Knights job a little harder but hey, I am sure they welcome the better competition. Barring any injuries or more transfers, the Knights are ready to make their move. ;)

MIC, now that you've chimed in, I find it puzzling that neither one of these transfers went the NEUMANN way,.....I mean, if they pay attention to what is said in this forum, (and especially by YOU), why wouldn't they be headed to Philadelphia???,.....here's a D-III college program in NEUMANN that has the train moving forward, and perhaps the most improved program in the division,.....I, for one, like their chances in the "new" season come January and trust me, when the smoke settles, they'll be a top 10 team, something I believe you've said from day 1,.....

we're not talking about the Neumann Men's team here :p

8-4 and the best goalie in the ECAC West in Mike Collichio as well as probably the Rookie of the year in Jesse Cole.

Wow, didn't know the guys at NEUMANN were also the talk of D-III hockey,.....no, I was talking about the women's edition of NEUMANN Knights hockey, and I'll repeat it again; NEUMANN will be a top 10 team come mid February, now that someone pointed out they just need to play more games in order to break into that group of programs,.....

Well of course they should win out the second semester because they have such a weak schedule the only tough games are at the end of the year against Cortland and Elmira So they should run away with a ton of games.
