View Full Version : Bulldogs/Gophers doubleheader Metrodome?

I've heard rumors for a year that the Bulldog and Gopher MEN would be taking part in a hockey game at the Metrodome eventually but now the plans are for a men's and women's doubleheader according to the DNT:

Really sounds like it might be fun to attend, as they plan on having high school games at the Dome that weekend also.

"The UMD-Minnesota men's game will be an exhibition and not count against the regular-season limit of 36. An undetermined part of the proceeds will benefit the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth (similar to an arrangement with the Frozen Tundra game.)

The UMD-Minnesota women's game is expected to be an official game, said Ellison."

I guess I missed that article...

It only makes sense to have the same school as the opponent for the men's AND women's game.. whether it's UMD men and women, OR BSU men and women.

It's not. Here is a Quote from a very reliable source-seeking man in Bemidji. We are also discussing it on the CHA Men's Thread....

After e-mailing back and forth, it appears Mr. Milewski is correct. I am waiting to still hear directly from the Duluth News-Trib to confirm (and have a call in to Dr. Rick Goeb), but Milewski says that he has an e-mail from Kevin Pates, the writer of the Duluth News-Trib story saying that the women's game will be BSU/UMinn. What's unfortunate is that (if true) the News-Trib's site hasn't gone back and corrected the error (or printed a retraction)...

Hmm.. Kevin Pates really doesn't have much to do with the women's side of UMD hockey anyway, but if it was originally scheduled to me the BSU women in the first half of the double header, it almost seems like they got screwed out of that oppurtunity if the last article is correct.

That's good to know it's been corrected .. in the newspaper anyway.. I don't subscribe to the DNT anymore since it used to show up only about 85% of the time. It wasn't worth calling for rerunds/credits.
