I saw the roster for NEC. Is it not complete as it shows only one goalie? HE must be pretty durable. Any others coming due on the roster?

They have to have two goalies per NCAA Rules (http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/2005/2005_ice_hockey_rules.pdf):

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Players in Uniform
SECTION 3. a. At the beginning of each game, the coach of each team shall
list the players and goalkeepers who shall be eligible to play in the game.
A maximum of 18 players, plus not more than three nor less than two goalkeepers,
shall be permitted; and a captain shall be designated. A substitute goalkeeper
must be on the bench at the start of the game and shall at all times be fully
dressed and equipped and ready to play. Upon entering the game, the
substitute goalkeeper shall take his position without delay. A team shall
not start a game with less than two goalkeepers.

PENALTY—Forfeiture (score will be recorded as 1-0).
Note: A team must travel to an away game with a minimum of two goalkeepers on
the roster. If one of the goalkeepers sustains an incapacitating injury or, because of
extenuating circumstances, is not able to suit up, a forfeiture penalty shall not be
called. Officials are instructed to play the game and report it to the rules committee
and appropriate conference, if applicable. The rules committee is the sole arbitrator
of these extenuating circumstances.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

So they may not list a second goalie, but I'm positive they have one.

I saw a piece last year that said Amherst only had one goalie?

how did they bypass that rule or was that just a rumor that they only carried one goalie?

Occasionally, teams have been known in a pinch to dress a volunteer scrub in goalie gear and hope to high heaven they don't have to use him in order to comply with the rule.

Another player would dress as a goaltender even though he was not actually a goalie . .

i'm sure they have someone else, maybe just a walk on that played goalie in HS. can't see them dressing a random guy for college hockey.

Amazingly, Amherst dressed two different regulars as goalies in a number of games towards the end of the season year. One was a forward and the other was a defenseman. Both were regular members of the squad although the forward was a third or fourth line player and the D-man a reserve.

I remembered this thread from awhile ago and have been waiting for the final roster to come out. It's out now, and apparently they have 5 goalies on the roster. I will post with the names highlighted. Go Pilgrims!! First game is tonight against Skidmore.
