I think this is probably going to be an ongoing storyline: BC is the lone "Yankee" school in a conference full of southern officials. I thought the game at Clemson was very poorly officiated. Call me a paranoid northerner but IMO it's something to keep an eye on, anyway.

This could be the start of a real feud with UVA, even though we're only going to play them every other season.

O'Brien shot that down after the game when Vega asked him that (and then every other BC player who was in the postgame interview room)... Th eplayers of course said 'sure it could be a rivalry', but O'Brien explained that you dont focus on a team you play every other year, meaning you only play at home once in 4 years... I agreed with O'Brien

Sorry guys.

The ACC officials just suck. If there is a bias for ACC officials, it's centered in Carolina on Tobacco road, but well, those schools pretty much suck at football. You haven't seen anything until you try to beat Duke in conference play in basketball.

not just the refs, but the opposing players.. those clemson kids were spearing ryan left and right. I mean he sat up spitting blood on the field for a good 10 minutes.

the only thing BC can do is keep winning. They are really showing something as a team. Porter is a decent QB, he needs his recievers to run good routes and get open. otherwise he is prone to terrible decisions.

if BC can continually roll out blackmon, gonzalez, robinson, and lilly (if he returns) they can boot stupid old larry fumbles lester and be a real threat downfield. atleast enough to really open the running game, which isn't hurt by having 2 talented backs to share the workload.

I'm really happy with this team right now. I felt like in years past, this would've been the kind of game where TOB and co. would've just laid down and given up, but they played a gritty game and beat a tough opponent. This is shaping up to be the best BC team in quite a while, and they're ticking off a lot of naysayers who thought BC would struggle in the ACC. Now just get out there and end this losing streak against Wake, please.

NOw to give you guys what you would expect from me:

THis is as good as this team gets. Which isnt a bad statement. It's really been firing on all cylinders. Even the FSU loss, there was nothing more they could do (Porter's picks werent his fault). You'll beat Wake no problem.

The negative is, this team only has depth on offense. 1 injury on D will be huge, which is why Virginia's play was even more suspect. Sure BC's D played well with only half their starting line, but by then they were so hyped up. The secondary depth is really the problem, the line and LB's are average past the starters. (although I suppose Blackmon can play D, but at this point, I say just leave him on O).

Matt Ryan being able to fill in is huge, because with all the subs at WR, and the 2 RB's playing equally, the O has proven they are good all-around (although, 1 reason why I say they're so good is because they sub so much, it really makes a difference, especially for Whitworth and Callander)

Wake Forest has 2 backs that average 5 yards per carry. This could be another struggle if they don't contain them. BC cannot take them lightly despite their record and the results of the last 2 years have to be on their minds. They cannot look past this team before they play VA Tech which they have more success against than the Florida teams like Miami and FSU.

No. Kevin Akins has probably been BC's best cornerback so far. Had a huge interception on Saturday, and hits like a truck... is also one of BC's only options for a tall CB. He's a redshirt frosh and is 4th on the cornerback depth chart despite his play so far. Ron Brace is a backup at DT... watch him when he gets to play, he penetrates on every single play, it's hard to block 350 pounds I guess. Linebacker... Dunbar backs up Henderson... Dunbar is faster, stronger, hits harder, more athletic, on and on and on... but Henderson has experience and leadership and savvy. The other backups, Francois and Pruitt, are the fastest linebackers on the team minus Toal. They make plays every chance they get. They're just younger... BC's linebacking crew will be just as good next year when Brown and Henderson graduate. I've watched every BC football game for 17 years and have never seen this kind of depth on defense. We used to have 260 pound defensive tackle walk-ons like Andy Krauza, starting walk-on linebackers like Brooke Heald in the early days of Tom O'Brien. Depth has been huge for this team. It's the reason they were able to win late against Clemson, they stayed fresh... they rotate in a full d-line change several times per series. It's also the reason they physically dominated UVA in the second half. If you don't recognize it, it's because you hear too much hype about the stars and forget everyone else.

Edit: Forgot Jamie Silva, who started the season as a backup, and made 14 unassisted tackles on Saturday. They tend to rotate the safeties, so with Glasper injured, Silva saw more PT and proved himself enough to start... Glasper came back and had a decent game in pass coverage especially. Silva seemed to be in on every running play, great nose for the football.

And just to make it irrefutable... one major injury on defense is clearly not huge. BC was missing Dejuan Tribble, the #1 cb on the depth chart, when they beat Clemson. The #3 DT, Justin Bell, is out for the year already, but Raji has stepped up to the point where he's as dangerous as Kiwi. Glasper, starting FS, was out for 2 games, and BC was fine as well. That's two starting dbacks hurt at once.

Wake Forest is a ***** to play against (as you guys probably know). That misdirection offense is a huge issue for a defense, especially an attacking defense. They usually put up 20 or so points on Florida State, just from over pursuing the ball. And Barclay is probably the best back in the ACC this year. Defensively they're nothing special, and you'll probably score 35+.

and Jazzman Williams is out too. I definitly think you're exagerating the talents of these guys. The D line is very good, Toal is excellent and Henderson is crazy, but compare them to other teams? They're average past their best 3-4 players. FSU had a field day on the secondary.

BC has played 2 teams: FSU (who they played well against) and Virginia (who they came out flat against, but still played well considering Ohlinger's 3 missed FG's. Clemson I would say is a tough team, but they've been crappy this year. Army, BYU, and Ball St. aren't exactly tough competition. We'll see what BC is made of. I think BC will take Wake no problem, but they dont stand a chance against V-Tech.

nice, but I dont think it's enough. I originally said 2-3 games... I guess 1 is close.

It's hard to prove intent, but at the time it sure did look intentional with the purpose of injuring. Like I said, they (some of the players) were fiving each other and smiling along the sideline. He should have received a stiffer penalty than one game.

He should have recieved an additional game for celebrating Kiwi getting tossed. Look at it this way, UVA was flagged 15 yards for an endzone celebration that wasnt as bad as the way he celebrated for the ejection!

That was just from Virginia. I dont' know if the ACC or NCAA will take further action (I doubt it, but it sure would be appropriate)

I think if Al Groh had his way, he probably would have put the massive one game suspension back a week to the North Carolina game or Temple on November 5th instead of losing him vs. Florida State.

You have a clear-cut case of one player trying to injure another player -- the NCAA and/or ACC should step up and show they care about the welfare of their student-athletes.

And they tossed Al Washington?

If you haven't seen it, peep the video (http://filebox.vt.edu/users/nvp1986/CheapShotUVa_Kiwi.wmv). It does a much better job than that pic. I posted this in the other "game" thread. This is quite possibly the worst cheap shot I've ever seen.
