In an effort to divulge information useless to 99% of this board...

The location of this weekend's Mercyhurst/Mankato games have been changed to the lovely Erie Civic Center, home of our Erie Otters. Times are still 7 (Fri) and 2 (Sat). Due to a plugged compressor of some sort, there is no ice at the Mercyhurst Concrete Slab Center. Not sure when ice will return, but they should be able to play on the football field sometime in January, since it is Erie.

The Civic Center is not the cozy confines of the MIC, and it will feel like nobody is there, but the ice size is the same (seems a lot bigger when you are standing in goal, but they tell me it is not). Just wanted to let those who plan on attending that there has been a change.

But the 99% doesn't mind when the information figures to be VERY useful to that other 1%.

The Rink is NHL size. The Mercyhurst Ice Center claims to hold 1,500. It is small and bright. The civic center holds 7,000 and is dark and cavernous. From my perspective, it seems bigger because you can't see the ceiling when you look up, it is very dark, and the seats slope away slowly, so you can't see the side walls.

Most of the rinks I play at have little or no spectator areas, so the rinks always seem small. When we warm up at the civic center, it just seems bigger. During the game, it really has no effect, except when the puck is up in the air. As a goalie, I have a hard time finding it when it gets above glass level at the civic center.
