...thought Maggie had a shot at ROTW. Pretty impressive debut for the Buckeye freshman tho.
No complaints about ROTW, and nobody else jumps off the page for Offensive POTW. But I'm not sure about Vanderveer sharing the defensive award. Nothing against her, and I'm sure she played well. But stopping 49-51 over two games at home as the favorite isn't quite at the same level as stopping all 44 in one night on the road as an underdog -- a lot more pressure on every shot.

Vanderveer had a spectacular first game. She is the reason they won the first game

Our Honorable Mention, Jill Luebke, was amazing in that game. She got hung-out to dry a few times and stood on her head. One of the nicest saves I have ever seen in a hockey game was in this game, as she dove across a wide-open net and got it with her stick. It was one of those saves where the arena was silent as we thought to ourselves, "Did she really just stop that???"
Also! WATCH LISA KISSICK....She's good! I am officially her biggest fan at BSU. The 12 fans and I took a poll, and I was her biggest fan.

ROTY could very well have gone to Lanzl. She was something to watch. She was all over the front of the net, definately showed that she is going to be a contender in the league scoring races.

WCHA weekend recap...

Anybody witness a performance they feel warrants POTW, ROTW etc. ? Maggie Fisher of MSU perhaps a candidate for ROTW.

Lanzl - UMD - offensive POW . . . of UMD's 7 goals she had a hand in 5 of them.
We should add a fan award: Best Coach Rant of the Week
Again, Shannon Miller UMD for her post 2nd period rant to the ref regarding the appropriate definition of the cross-checking penalty.

Thanks, Brookyone. Great piece written by John Gilbert on SCSU goalie Kendall Newell. She played in the second Bemidji game this past weekend, and allowed just one goal. Lesteberg may be on to something by alternating Newell and Laurie St. Jacques. Both are very good netminders.
