...."Jonathan Sigalet has attended a couple of Winter Hawks' training camps and has stayed in touch with the team while playing for Bowling Green. With his brother's graduation, Sigalet's draft position and NHL rights, as determined on Saturday, may encourage him to try a year of major junior hockey in the WHL with the Hawks in 2005-06."....

I hope Jonathan values his academic track more than a major junior adventure.

What exactly is the rule about players attending major junior camps. Isn't the rule something like they can't spend more than 2 days there without losing eligibility?

Hopefully Sigalet is able to make his own decision and doesn't fall victim to NCAA rules.

I have skated with both Sigalet's and I know they both value their academics very highly. That being said, as soon as Jonathan is too step on the ice for one major junior game in the WHL (not exhibtion) he will get one full year of tuition and books paid for at any Canadian University he goes too. Not too mention get paid to play major junior.

He is allowed to attend camp for two days, after that he has to pay for everything if he wants to stay longer at the camp.

Jonathon seems to be a smart guy and I don't think he would do anything to jeopardize his hockey career at BGSU without thinking it through completely. And whatever he decides to do, seems to be a personal decision.

I believe you are quite right on this!!! He is a very mature young man who wouldn't make any decision like this lightly. As far as the upcoming season, we all expect him to have a banner year here, since he won't have the on-ice distraction of worrying about Jordan during the games (ie; being in "protection-mode").
