It is supposedly by invite only. I have been told other Beantown events are reputable and well attended. Hopefully another good oppurtunity for womens hockey

They will have a problem if they have college players. Many of the incoming freshman will be reporting to school from Aug 20th on. If they are just taking high school players, that is different.

I believe it is for HS players only.

Anyone know who's going??? I've heard a few - one player that coaches should keep an eye on is Sr. D - Lehrke from MN (Academy of Holy Angels) - very underrated player and should do well.

Quote

"The rosters will include only those players personally invited and identified as a top Olympic or College prospect. There are no tryouts for the Girl’s Tournament.

Dates: August 18-21, 2005
Location: Iorio Arena, Walpole, MA
Fee: $195.00

If you would like to be considered please contact either Matt Swain or Beantown Classic:"

So much bull… err…baloney.

So either there are no tryouts or you call to be considered? Hmmmm? Seems a bit confused. They say these teams will be college or Olympic prospects? Four teams of Olympic/college prospects. Where’s Ben Smith when you need him?

I know of two players that were invited from Massachusetts. Jess Martino a defensemen at BB&N and Lauren Arsenault the starting goalie at Cushing Academy. They were talking at a clinic last week. I don't know if either is going, only know that they were invited. Both very good/solid players that I have seen.

I heard a rumor that they buy the mailing list of all of the hockey night in boston participants that go to tryout and send invitations via that mailing list. I don't know if that is true or not. Anybody else heard this rumor?

I don't think that this is true because I know for fact that Lauren Arsenault did NOT tryout for HNIB, her parents didn't feel that sharing a game with two other goalies was in her best interest or the other two goalies for that matter. Too much money for what they thougt Lauren would get out of it. This was also felt by other parents that have players at this level so they were not alone. Besides both Lauren and Jess were in LP with their age group and did well. Maybe they were seen there, along with prep school look sees. Not sure only a guess. I know this family very well and they are very careful, but also let Lauren make her own choices too.

There are several non-Mass players listed who were at Lake Placid festivals including stand-outs H. Knight and D. Dicesare who were leading scorers for 89s. Others are from Michigan, Minnesota, No Carolina, Illinois, Ohio who were also at LP and some prep players - seems like could be decent talent pool.

I've heard the rumor that the tournament organizers don't concern themselves with Hockey Night in Boston and use their reputation alone to attract the top prospects, who in turn, never consider going to HNIB.

Compare the rosters for both -- lots of overlap. Good Luck to All these fine players in both tournaments.

Lots of overlap with LP rosters as well. I know several who did Lp, but not HNIB

This is the "FIRST" Women's Beantown Classic, and it appears they are trying to keep the rosters to a "reasonable" 15 skaters, which was a major improvement at the Lake Placid camps (at least for the 89/90 group) this year.. they added more teams so the rosters were kept to 3 lines which equals more equal ice time and better flow for the players. HNIB has been a turn off because of the 20+ rosters, although they put together an impressive publication for PR. Also, it seems some of the players who travelled to Boston for HNIB are benefitting from mixing with local Mass players without being regional like the HNIB format. Looks like there are two girls - L. Ryabkina and V. Mykolenko from the Ukraine playing.
