brookyone, you're slipping! The latest (yesterday) AP Poll (http://www.minnesota-scores.com/appolls.php?yid=0506&sport=110&class=-1) (with Bemidji still, at 17-2-1, outside the top 10). I'm very much looking foreward to tomorrows match-up with 16-1-3 and #6 (A) Alexandria at Bemidji's Nymore Arena...
Here's the head-to-head break-down:
Bemidji vs.
Fergus Falls - W 4-0
Brainerd - W 10-3, W 5-2
St. Cloud Tech - W 4-0
St. Cloud Icebreakers - W 6-2
Moorhead - W 4-0
River Lakes - W 5-2
Alexandria vs. same
Fergus Falls - W 4-1
Brainerd - W 5-1, 4-2
St. Cloud Tech - W 2-1, T 1-1
St. Cloud Icebreakers - T 3-3
Moorhead - L 4-0
River Lakes - W 4-1
Should be a fun one.

..although not the outcome she would have liked, sounds like a typically strong performance in goal for the future Badger.
moose, don't know how Bemidji is not ranked in the top ten. Sections approaching where they should certainly be motivated to prove their point. Only guess I can take is voters giving an edge to metro teams based on opponents (SOS). The 0-4 loss to Eden Prairie...but that isn't out of line with results of other past / current ranked teams results vs. EP, with the exception of Wayzata which lost a one goal game with EP. Who do you figure is their toughest competition in the section? 8AA(?)
After seeing a number of top teams in the metro, including Eden Prairie, I really don't see anyone beating EP out of the AA title. They're a level above all others in my opinion.

Should be a great game. Alex is a neat team. They have some decent size complimented with some good skaters. It will be interesting to see how the goalie does. She really has not been put to the test as of late. One area of concern I see from Alex is their lack of conditioning. IF the game is wide open with lots of end to end action it could hurt Alex.

Well, Elk River is always a big question mark, as they refuse to play much of the section. They are the only other unbeaten, un-tied team vs. Section 8 (AA), at 2-0 (compared to Bemidji's 7-0), with wins over Buffalo, 6-0, and St. Cloud Tech 4-0. St. Cloud Tech, and Moorhead are right behind with Tech playing poorer of late, and Moorhead playing better (Bemidji re-matches with the Spuds in Bemidji Jan 31st)... Sartell-Sauk Rapids (the other un-beaten team, with one tie vs. the section) is an interesting case, with a nice looking record of 11-4-3, but with bad losses to Fergus Falls and Rogers-Zimmerman - each 2-1. Plus, they have a win vs. Tech...
Here's how I see the section right now:
1) Bemidji
2) Elk River
3) Moorhead
4) Sartell/Sauk Rapids-Rice
5) St. Cloud Tech
6) Brainerd
7) North Wright County
8) River lakes
9) Buffalo

Will you be in town for BSU hockey? Will you stop by for this one at Nymore?

I would love to visit my old stomping grounds "Nymore Gardens" as this should be one heck of a game. Do they still have the plywood locker rooms?
I will be attending both BSU games. However, I rarely get into town and between spending time with family and friends there is not enough time in the day to do everything I would like. I have been asked to play broomball and golf for Polar Daze, go ice fishing, get a corner burger with some old friends, open xmas gifts with family (long story). My wife is 5 mos pregnant so ultimately I will end up doing whatever she lets me.......... :D

Moose,
Is Scott Williams still around Bji?
Scott works at Z99 (the same radio company I work for), and announces BSU hockey on TV 17... I'm, in fact, on my way to see him right now... He'll be at both Beaver games this weekend.

I hate to go off on officiating, but Bemidi had three goals waved off in thier 2-2 tie with Alexandria, plus the refs refused to call two solid body checks against Alexandria that left Lumberjack players injured on the ice requiring trainers assistance...
I hate to sound like a sore loser (heck, it was a tie, not a loss :p ), and will admit that Bemidji blew their chances to put the game away (including missing on three breakaways), but it's tough to recover from three disallowed goals, of which, one (at best) was legit. The other two, the official was out of position IMHO to see if the puck was still alive or not...
All-in-all, if there are good ties, and bad ties, I'd call this a bad tie...
Bemidji's now 17-2-2 and at 9-9-1 Detroit Lakes on Monday.

Moose,
Aside from poor officiating, how did Alex look to you? I have been to most of Alex home games (against less talented teams). Therefore, it has been difficult for myself to really get a feel for how good/average/poor this team actually is.

Well, I thought Bemidji was the better team, out-shooting the Cards 38-23 (including 28-10 through the first two periods), but I'll give Alex credit for playing a great team defensive game, and having two quality goailes (they split time equally in the game). I can definatly see how some of the better teams I've seen this year could get a piece of them, but they can also play with most any team I've seen out there as well...

Short Q & A with SCSU recruit Meaghan Pezon, currently top scorer for top ranked Eden Prairie, as well as being among the top scorers in the state. Followed by a training regimen for NSP netminder Breanna Scavo designed to enhance her skills. As always, hope the links work.

brooky .
NSP AND STILLWATER both have 4 games left . NSP 18-2-1 , PONIES 18-3 .
STILLWATER BEAT C-E-C . NSP LOST 5-2 TO C-E-C. .... but !!!
STILLWATER LOST TO SSP 6-2 ... NSP BEAT SSP TWICE 3-0 AND 6-4 ..
horse apiece ... #2 OR # 3 ... even match for rankings .. We all know the
rankings are just one mans opinion . Hopefully they will play each other in the
section final !!! BUT !!!!! Both teams can beat anyone they play on any given
night , Except prob. EP ... because the offense of both teams is mainly
generated from the 1st line , both teams play decent defense and both teams
have been getting very solid goaltending . Your Hot chocolate battle will go
down to the wire ... 4 games remaining for both ... NSP plays :
Mahtomedi , tonight .. Champlin Park on friday . Sibley next Tuesday and
Richfield next friday ... Stillwater has : Moundsview , White Bear , Cretin , and
Roseville ..... GOOD LUCK !!

Hopefully they will play each other in the
section final !!!
I hope so as well, and it very well could happen and that's what I've been looking to...to get an idea or possible answer to the question. Biggest concern for me...Stillwater recent history of coming out flat in the section opener. As for the "Hot Chocolate Cup" race (friendly wager) I'm hoping my "Pony" gets the extra games by advancing further than NSP. ;)
Watch out for Roseville...cranking it up & playing very well as crunch time approaches...as is common for the Raiders.
Edit: Looking at those remaining games for both Stillwater & NSP, I think #21 has the better opportunities to light it up / pile up the points.
