Becker College Ice Hockey (NCAA D-III)
This has been discussed on this board for sometime now but Craig Barnett, current Head Coach with Lake Forest Academy, former D-I Head Coach at University of Findlay, and former Asst Coach at Mercyhurst College has been hired at Becker as the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. The following statement was issued on Saturday May 7 and was reprinted w/o permission from the Mid-West Prep Hockey League of which Lake Forest Academy is a charter member:
Coach Craig Barnett released this statement to announce that he his moving on and will no longer be at Lake Forest Academy.
Coaches/Colleagues,
I feel privileged to have worked with you over the past 2 years as the Director of Hockey at Lake Forest Academy. I have accepted the Director of Athletics / Hockey Coach position at Becker College (NCAA III) in Worcester, MA effective at the end of our school year. It has been a very difficult decision to make as LFA has been very kind to me and my family and their commitment to building the hockey program into one of the best prep programs in the Midwest is evident. However, this opportunity is a great professional move for me at this time in my career and one that I just can’t pass up. Becker College is a small, private liberal arts school in New England that is quickly growing and athletics will be one of the main components that will help the school continue to grow. I will miss being part of the continuing progress at LFA and the prep hockey world but I am excited about the challenges and opportunities that I will face in my new role. Again, thank you for your friendship.
Respectfully,
Craig Barnett
