well....its been a long 5 months of hockey and we have finally reached the promised land of D3 Women's hockey, The Frozen Four!

Next weekend 4 teams will converge on Elmira, NY and the Murray Athletic Center to try and claim the 2005 National Championship. Elmira, Plattsburgh, Middlebury, and Gustavus Adolphus will all be coming in with one thing on their mind, JUST WIN BABY. Im very excited at the field for this year's tournament. All 4 teams havea very good shot at claiming the title with the right bounce of the puck.

Im looking forward to getting the chance to see the highly touted Andrea Peterson of Gustavus Adolphus. Also, for the first time ever, a Middlebury hockey team will be playing at the Domes. This is just bitter sweet victory for me because of the fact that we always have to go up there for games whether its on the mens or womens side. Yet, they never can find the time to return a trip back down to us ever. Do i really even need to say anything about Plattsburgh? we all know the Elmira/Plattsburgh story and surely that game will be one of the most highly anticipated matchups ever in the 4 year history of NCAA sanctioned hockey.

NCAA Semifinals-
Saturday, March 19th

Gustavus Adolphus vs Middlebury 3:30pm

Elmira vs Plattsburgh 7pm

National Championship-

Semifinal winners 7pm

What a great weekend! The last match of the greatest rivalry in women's D3 history comes to end as both Plattsburgh and Elmira graduate half their team this year. I'll be sad to see this era end.

The big question is: Can Plattsburgh ever win the "big one" against Elmira? If they win it will makeup for 3 years of losing the "big one" to Elmira. Or, will Elmira prove once and for all they're a dynasty and what will next year bring... Hmmmm..

Considering their history I bet both teams come to play and it'll be a close game. Neither team will pull a Bowdoin here (Still shocked at Bowdoin's play).

Pick -
Heart Plattsburgh
Head Elmira

Now the Middlebury vs GAC game.. The big question is: GAC - Contender or pretender? GAC took out Stevens Point rather easily while Middlebury had a tough time with Man'ville. Here's a golden opportunity for a west team to step up and beat a "Big Dog" at "crunch time". Middlebury may be primed to be beaten but I'm sure their coach knows that.

Pick Middlebury (Head Coach will have them prepared)

Middlebury vs Elmira/Plattburgh - Whoever wins the Elmira/Plattsburgh game is going to be untouchable in the finals....

Pick - Elmira/Plattsburgh

Last weekend for D3 and I hope everyone, even Polarbear2, has a great summer! Remember Bear "If it doesn't kill ya it just makes ya stronger"

Am I out of the loop, because according to the NCAA and this website the next round is on Friday not Saturday. Yet I have seen two different people claim that the semifinal game is on saturday. Please help me!

This is the biggest weekend of the season and this has been the quietest the D3 threads have been all year!! where is everyone??

lets get some thoughts, predictions, rants, previews, something going!

I know there are plenty of posters out there that support each of the schools in the tournament...so lets get some chatter going! :)

Some of us are in mourning over the performance of our team in the first round of the NCAA's :D That point aside, I think it is an outstanding line up this weekend. The semi-final matchups are outstanding...and the finals..what can I say!! Even though my team is not there this year, I look forward to the best NCAA Women's Frozen Four yet. I really believe that. It is because of the increased parity in DivIII. Good luck to all of the teams involved!!!

pb2- what happened over the last 2 games to derail your team which seemed to be dominating, had a win over Midd, and seemed on a roll?

Where are all the Gusties fans??!!

Here I am. No predictions from me, but let me say it will be one great weekend of hockey. Unfortunately after not missin any of the gusty games this year (save on that doesnt count because there was a foot and a half of snow, and two 6 hour drives that were better left alone) I may not be able to make it to the FF (school isnt supporting a fan bus, and plane tickets arent within my budget):( So it will take a miricle to get there, but I sure will go to everygame that is there, I hope I can go!!!!

Go Gusties!

This is a very popular thought among many people, I hope for an upset.

I'm not sure you could call a game win or lose an upset
the teams left are just to close to consider any of them being an upset
