Last update at the Whitt was 4-3 Providence with about 6:30 to go. Northeastern had been up 2-0 and 3-2 but blew the lead.

5 - 4 Providence in OT
Boo.
UConn beats Maine again. It will be interesting to see if the Huskies can pull some big playoff upsets, with Kaitlyn Shaine as hot as she seems to be right now.

Hope that the men get their act together and sweep the 1/4s, so that the Pep Band can cover the women's semis on Sat.

Update on that, sometime last week the guy who works the Friends' booth emailed Steve Metcalf in the AD about sending the band down and he responded that it wasn't within their budget, hopefully it gets brought up Tuesday at the Friends' meeting and they can work something out between the two to get you guys down there. We have several people who would also be willing to pay to take the bus to cover some of the cost. Cross your fingers.

Hmm. I'll also talk to Ms Svanoe and see if the band itself has ANY moolah to throw at it. She said we couldn't last week but $200 isn't much at all, so if we got even $100 kicking around it would help.

You would know better than I, but from what I've heard the music department is very under-funded, but like I said Saturday I talked to the president of the Friends' during the game and passed on Ms. Svanoe's email and she said Dot Sheanen from the AD would be at the meeting Tuesday, I also talked to the guy from the booth (who emailed Mr. Metcalf previously) and he said he would bring it up if she didn't and would pass on word to some Friends' members at the reception following the game about it. Believe me, everyone I've talked to at women's games love it when the pep band shows up, your efforts are appreciated.

Yes, music is underfunded. And the athletic bands in particular. They spent a chunk of change on new marching band unis my frosh year so we don't get much anymore. Usually we get enough for one road trip during football season (Rutgers this year, Hofstra last year).
But if Ms Svanoe has a few bucks kicking around, that may have been pegged for music, maybe we can steal that. After all, it is a bit late for most music additions.
One thing I want to try for next season, is talk to the AD about allowing in a volunteer "combo" band. I agree that the Pep Band should play more women's games, even if it has to come at the expense of bball. But Ms Svanoe likes the formula that Keck established. But if we can get some dedicated people to form a combo, similar to PCs group that came up (although not so much a jazz band), we could fill in the gaps when the Pep band isn't there. I'm hoping for less conflicts next fall (I had to be in the theatre EVERY women's home game this fall).
