As the season winds down...the races for the All-American spots start to become a little bit more clearer...here are my thoughts on what the All-Americans lists should like out East right now...

1st team-

F.Cherie Stewart, Manhattanville
F.Laura Hurd, Elmira
F.Emily Quizon, Middlebury
D.Jennifer Mulick, Manhattanville
D.Shannon Tarrant, Middlebury
G.Edith Racine, Elmira

2nd Team-

F.Jackie O'Neil, Elmira
F.Lorna Gifis, Middlebury
F.Meghan Gillis, Bowdoin
F.Zoe Baldwin, Hamilton
D.Erin O'Brien, Plattsburgh
D.LeAnn Denman, Elmira
G.Cat Mceachern, Bowdoin

Yes i made a 4th forward spot because i can...and there is no way i was going to rob any of those 7 for their performances so far this season...will things change? its quite possible...but thats the way i see things shaping up right now

purple and gold, have you ever seen a Western game?? How did you base your first team? I can think of two forwards on Gac a lot more deserving than Crandall. Try Neve or Doyle. As far as Stevens Point, their forwards, like Ninneman, get big points because of their reliance on one another. Alone, she is nothing special compared to the many talented players in the West. Melanie Drake!? First of all, she plays forward. 'Uh' is all I can say regarding her. However, I do give her credit because she can score some big goals when needed...

I'm not familiar with how this all works. Is there really a first and second team for the eastern region, a rookie team, and only one team for the west? Or is it all combined for the nation?
And by the way watchme, who would you pick if you're so against what Purple and Gold said?
I think Purple and Gold did a decent job with predictions. And I totally disagree with you, watchme, on Ninneman from Point. She does rely on her teamates to help her score. But she puts the puck in the net. She has a good shot and is a team leader. I would agree though that Neve might be more deserving than Crandall. But you have to agree that Kegley and Peterson should get some credit. I'm not so familiar with Drake. Who would you replace her with? Do you agree with the goaltender chosen?

There are 2 Eastern teams and only 1 Western Team...I just added the all-rookie team out East for giggles.

They proportion the all-american teams to the # of teams that play in that region. If the West can get some more teams, somday they will have 2 teams as well.

I think you've got to look at Kogut for the goaltender slot on one of the East teams. MacE from Bowdoin has great stats as well, but as was discussed in another thread, Kogut has notably stronger numbers/performance in "big games" against ranked opponents for Middlebury than MacE did for Bowdoin.

Are you drunk or something? Have you ever seen a GAC game? Crandall is the leading scorer for forwards on GAC. I can think of 1 forward more deserving than Neve and Doyle. Styp. Idiot look at the stats and lets not forget crandall assists on a lot of doyles goals oh and just a question......who scored the game winning goal to put them in the national tourney? Crandall. She also set up another all american in andrea peterson on the tying goal. Doyle and neve have had good years but nothing compared to crandall styp and peterson.

Turned in to the police by your own research... heh heh...

Naw, they are both great goalies, and I actually think that Midd and Bowdoin are similar teams, though I feel like this year Midd has the edge in talent and drive, while maybe two years ago, Bowdoin had that little bit extra to them. I was surprised to see the bad loss by the Panthers to Bowdoin at the end of the season, and not at all surprised to see the tables turned - sometimes the breaks go your way, sometimes they don't.

The greatest thing in my mind is the incredible talent in DIII hockey right now. There are so many good players for so many good teams, the growth of the sport may not be reflected in the All-American teams, which focus on the elite schools' players, but there are stars at programs outside of that as well.

They are announced the day before the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal games at a banquet attended by NCAA officials and all 4 teams that will be participating in the Frozen four.

SUPERFAN, no I am not drunk, but apparently Crandall always is. She can put the puck in the net, but she is definitely one of the most overrated players I have ever seen. Ninnemann is good...but not First-team. Drake, I see now she is listed as F/D even though I have never seen her play D. I cannot come up with my list right now I will have to put some thought into this. Plus, I have not seen 5 of the teams play and have to get input on these teams(even though I doubt it wil make a difference)

P.S. I have seen GAC play six times this year and know a lot more about the team than you ever will...the good, the bad, and the ugly

six times? High roller. Crandall isn't over rated. If anything she is under rated. I am curious. which games did you see? obviously it wasn't the st thomas games. nor the game where she scored GAC's first hat trick this year. She is a player who makes her team better and always scores in big games. Oh last time I checked she has a 24 game point scoring streak. So even if they are losing IE 5-1 at point, she still is good enough to score. Doyle hasn't scored a goal in how many in a row? And if she is drunk for every game I'd hate to see her sober seem she is the second leading scorer in the MIAC. PS I have seen gustavus play a lot more than 6 times so I think I know more about the good the bad and the ugly. You will be hard pressed to find a gustie fan that thinks she is over rated seem this one post that a person picked her for all american is about the only notartiety she has. Styp gets a lot of the credit as does doyle. Not taking away from either of them because I think they both have phenominal talent and had phenominal years, but if you look at points I guess a drunk kelly crandall is better than most every other sober player in the MIAC.

I think you're probably right about giving Midd the slight edge overall this season. Been following the Women (Men too) at Bowdoin for awhile...and Bowdoin has lost their share of BIG games...thats not to say they haven't won some also. Yet, it might have something to do with drive. They went to the Final Four twice...record 1-3...Though on the bright side, I'll stand by my prediction of last year...The freshman class last year will win the national Championship in their college careers. I don't throw around alot of "bests" in my posts, yet I think Bowdoin's freshman and sophmore players this season are possibly the most talented group of women in DivIII top to bottom. There is not a player among them who can't skate with anyone in the country. The NESCAC has not been known, recently, for producing prolific scorers like Hurd or Peterson but this may be due to the complete style of play. I don't know. With the impending shuffle in the ECAC-W and the unknown Western factor, I think both Midd and Bowdoin will be major forces in DivIII for some time to come. The future in DivIII is bright indeed!!!

How recent are we referring to on NESCAC "prolific scorers being produced?

Wait just a minute, Watchme and you too Superfan - Crandall drunk? Drunk every game?

First of all that is tremendously insulting to a talented player and to a great program.

Secondly, I absolutely cannot believe that Coach Mike Carroll would tolerate that behavior. He is really into control - in a good way. He also preaches discipline and personal responsibility. He's a clean cut type and that's what he wants in his players. I think those comments are out of line.
