So was I!
Soccer is for hooligans, OBL must have loved the pre and pst match beatdowns from the bobbies. That's no doubt what drew him to them. :D He was fairly young at the time -- maybe the "Arsenal" and "Gunners" labels should have tipped off our agency guys to future jihadist tendencies.
And while we're on the topic of twisted psyches, here's a Q for Mohawk-dude: how does citing analyses that happen to be discrepant with your own views equate to using these to "fellate" one's favorite team?
Very classy stuff. Are you telling us more about your own motivations for fandom than we care to know?
Here's a tip: if you don't want to encounter Pats fans saying positive things about their squad, it might not be the best idea to click on a thread titled "Super Bowl 2006" right after that team's won three of the last four.
Sorry they won. Get over it.

About two hundred years ago, the smart folk in Maine had the good sense to disassociate themselves with Taxachusetts Took another half century, though, for the rest of the country to agree that they were significant enough to deserve statehood. :D
By that time, Indiana, Alabama and Mississippi had already been admitted, so it seemed churlish to continue to insist on applying reasonable standards...

Yeah, but isn't it knid of like saying, "Yale won 20+ national championships in football, before the modern era - so they do not count?!"
Who care, the Pats won a third Superbowl in 4 years.

He's plagued by headaches
http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2005/02/17/patriot_bruschi_is_hospitalized/
Patriots Pro Bowl linebacker Tedy Bruschi was hospitalized yesterday afternoon and kept overnight to determine the cause of headaches.
"After suffering from headaches earlier today, Tedy Bruschi was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston," the Patriots said in a statement. "He is in good condition and will be held for further evaluations. The Bruschi family appreciates everyone's concern, but requests that you respect their privacy at this time."
. . . Channel 4 reported late last night that Bruschi was suffering from "stroke-like symptoms" -- including partial paralysis and blurred vision.

I heard some of the same on NESN this morning, but they did not say anything about stroke/paralysis. Chronic Headaches, that's what they said.

Isn't a stroke basically a broken blood vessel?
I hope he fully recovers.

a stoke occurs from a blood clot. I should know, I'm in sales.
I don't care if Ted ever plays another down, I just hope he makes a complete recovery.

The Colts continue to spend money like crazy on offense, which I'd guess leaves little money for defensive improvements. :)

Works for me. Some people never learn.
The Titans have cut Mason and Rolle, shaving a total $27 million from their payroll.
Over in the NFC, Lavenues Coles has asked to be traded. That'll make two missing WR's for the Redskins.

I've been meaning to get myself a #54 throwback jersey. I couldn't think of any other name on that team I'd rather have on my back.

The public will soon find out that Bruschi has a congenital heart valve problem. The valve does not function normally and causes an irregular blood flow out of the heart, sometimes causing clots. A clot moved to his brain which then caused a stroke. He has 2 choices, have surgery to repair the valve and be on blood thinners the rest of his life or forget surgery, stay on blood thinners and hope it doesn't happen again. Either way, returning to football is VERY risky.

God question, exactly how do you know this? Epoprotein (blood thinners)drugs are pretty common.

Not to sound like Jose Canseco but trust me on this. He's supposed to have a news conference later this week I think. Blood thinners are pretty common but I bet not for active NFL players.
If it comes out to be wrong, I'll be the first to come on here and take the heat. But I have on very good souces it's a heart defect.

Vinatieri was slapped with the non-exclusive franchise player tag yesterday; he'll make just over $2.5 million in 2005: http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2005/02/23/vinatieri_given_a_franchise_tag/
Also, here's the information on restricted FAs, from Felger's article in yesterday's Herald:
According to Players Association documents, the restricted free agent tenders for 2005 have been tabulated. The high tender (which brings back a first- and third-round pick in compensation if the existing teams fails to match an offer sheet) is $1.9 million. The second tender (first-round pick) is $1.43 million. The low tender (pick in the round the player was drafted) is $656,000.
These figures are of particular importance to the Pats, who have five key restricted free agents awaiting tenders: David Givens, Jarvis Green, Stephen Neal, Brandon Gorin and Tom Ashworth. The tenders are due March 1, unless the Pats give them long-term deals.
March 1 also is the date by which the Pats must be under the 2005 cap, and the Pats still have work to do to get under the limit.

1. Joe Andruzzi has signed with Cleveland: http://www.patriots.com/news/index.cfm?ac=latestnewsdetail&pid=10917&pcid=41
2. New England has agreed in principle to a trade for Duane Starks of the Arizona Cardinals (Arizona gets NE's third-round draft pick and the teams will swap places in the fifth round): http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2003545
3. The Patriots have apparently mid-level-tendered Ashworth, Neal, Givens, and Green. They're all free to negotiate with another team, but the Patriots can match any offer; if they decline to match, they'll receive a first-round draft pick: http://www.patriots.com/news/index.cfm?ac=latestnewsdetail&pid=10912&pcid=41

The press reported fairly early on that this stroke was caused by a rupture in a blood vessel and not from a clot that travelled to the brain. Correct?
