This is the last year the Super 6 is contracted to play at the Joe Louis Arena. Where should it be held next year?

Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Brand new facility and nobody college games there during the regular season.

College hockey has always been big on tradition and getting to the Joe is just that in the CCHA. I say leave it where it is.

I know the people at the JLA, Detroit, and media have been great to the CCHA, but why not move it to more of a neutral site? I say send it west to Grand Rapids just like the NCAA decided to do with the Regionals. You'll still get a ton of MSU and Meeechigan fans, but at least it's not right in their backyard. More like, the neighbors backyard. :D

Honestly, I'm a bit of a homer here, but the arena district in downtown columbus is beautiful. It's a nice safe, family friendly area. I think it is a much nicer area than where the JLA is, to say nothing of the nicer facilities.

Grand Rapids would be more of an msu site because its really close to east lansing, i say keep it at jla because its tradition and its closer to my house :D

If i was going to be a homer i say natonwide but then id have to travel 2 hours and pay hotel cost and its been at JLA for so long and its 45 minutes away from my house so i say leave it where it is and its more fun to see all the michigan fans leave when they lose.

Ok, the JLA is a great place to play... I have ran the stairs pumping up fans for a couple years, but seriously, could it be any closer to UM and MSU?? Its like having the games at your own rink for them. When it comes to teams like NMU, LSSU, and UAF (like if that mattered) we have to drive hours and hours. It would be nice to see the games played somewhere where we might have a chance of having drive to and not seeing 90% of the stands filled with UM and MSU fans.

It would be stupid of us Northern Teams to want it up North, but at least don't put all the teams at a disadvantage of having it so close to campuses that number students in the 40K+ range.

I think if we combine students from NMU, LSSU, CMU, and Ferris we might rival MSU, but that might be a stretch also.

On the other hand it's nice to go into someone's back yard and beat the living snot out of them infront of their fans.... :D

War Memorial is a really nice arena. I think it would be a great place for the Super 6 and would be relatively neutral as UM, MSU, ND, Miami, Bowling Green, Western, and OSU are all pretty close. Lots of hockey fans in Fort Wayne too and they can be crazy.

Van Andel is a really nice place to play... spacious, loud, always filled when the AHL's Griffins take the ice or the Arena Football League's Rampage play. While it doesn't have all-around seating, it does have good sight lines and comfortable seats.

Realistically it won't change away from Joe Louis Arena, and if it does it will just move to the Palace! Why? the CCHA offices are in Farmington Michigan

Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about. The CCHA offices being in Farmington has NOTHING to do with where the CCHA Tournament Championship is held. However, The Palace is a possibility in the future but not for the reason you mentioned. The largest amount of people are in the metro-Detroit (OK, suburbs now) area. It is also somewhat neutral turf (well, only for the Michigan teams) so why not? Think about it, no matter where you put it other than Detroit the attendence would be horrible.

You'd be surprised at the fan response if the CCHA finals were held in GR.

Surprised because the attendance will be terrible?

So, are you all advocating that the CCHA bring back the Super 6 format?

Hang on, let me go find some other 5 year old threads to bump so you can comment on them.

I would not bring back the format i like this one better. Its alot better for the top team not having to play the poor teams on the bottom in the 1st round.
