Any thoughts of an upset in this one? It appears as though State's been having a bit of trouble scoring against the better teams . . . and (needless to say) weaker in goal than the past few years.

UMD will undoubtedly be trying out different line combinations (as they did in the 2nd game v Wisconsin) to find something that will even out scoring. I am also hopeful that Elsmore will be cleared and have a chance to play.

I think UMD will sweep this series; however, last years matchup with MSU still is in my head...anything can happen. In order for MSU to win of the games, they have to have solid goaltending and capitilize on every opportunity that they get. I was starting to think that perhaps UMD was in the middle of a scoring drought; however, I'm hopeful that this team will build off of last Saturday's come from behind win and use that as leverage for a strong second half of the season.

Binnyrus, welcome back to the boards ;)

I have to agree that UMD will sweep. I can't say that I completely agree with the take on MSU's goalies. I agree that losing Vogt was huge, but Kehler and Yo are doing a pretty good job of replacing her. Both are in the top-20 nationally in save percentage with Brennan tied for 10th. MSU's problem this year has been the same as every year, no scoring. Their first line of Stohr, Bunker and Salatino are doing their part, but they need to get Conway and some others helping them out.

Wisconsin will do that to you.

Yeah, Wisconsin has an amazing defensive unit. Their PK was plain and simple, amazing. MSU has had a good d-unit as well the last few years, and I expect more the same this year from them. It'll be a hard fought series, but I see UMD sweeping 4-2, 2-0.

I agree it will be a tough weekend for the Lady Mavs, they do seem to play well against UMD in the past couple years, the games down here at the beginning of the year they played hard and had some sucess, they have been playing pretty well as of late, I also agree that it hasnt been too costly losing Vogt as people may have thought, both Kehler and Brennan are very good goalies and are still very young, its also helped the Mavs moving Conway to D, she has been playing much better. They still need to get some more scoring to beat the upper tier teams, the good news is they are playing well right now and scoring is on the way(for next year for sure)!!

5-2 and 4-1 This weekend.. I wasn't close last weekend against Wisconsin by picking a sweep.. this weekend, well, a little more confident in pickin such.
