All eyes will be on Pine Valley, NY and the Murray Athletic Center this weekend as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals come to town for a collosal matchup of two D3 women's hockey titans in Plattsburgh and Elmira.
Elmira and Plattsburgh have formed one of the best rivalries in all of D3 during their 4 years of existence. Elmira has won all 3 ECAC West crowns and 2 National Championships while Plattsburgh held up the ECAC West torch last year making the Semifinals before bowing out. These 2 games will decide A TON for each of these teams and affects many others. These two games will decide who is the cream of the crop in the ECAC West this year and who will be hosting this year's tournament. Also, the issue of who is really the #2 or #3 seed behind Middlebury and possibly Gustavus Adolphus will be answered.
Another thing, if one of these teams sweeps both games. They will put two nice wins next to their name in hopes to host the NCAA tournament if things keep playing out for them...a ton on the line and lost of great hockey is sure to be in store for us this weekend...
I will be there for both games!!!

What do you guys think about the series? You think one will sweep the other, they will split, or a tie or ties may be involved? I have not personally seen either team play, but I think the series will be split, both as one goal games.

I honestly think that one team is gonna take atleast 3 points out of this weekend...not saying which one...but thats just my gut feeling. These two teams dont tie...so i dont see them starting now. Two great teams getting ready to battle for two straight nights! I cant wait!!
and to my knowledge...there are no broadcasts scheduled...but i can send in reports by cell phone or i will come home with game recaps after both games...

It looks like Plattsburgh will take 2 from Elmira setting up what may be an interesting two game series with Neuman the weekend of Feb. 11 & 12. Neuman will most likely still be unbeaten when they face the Purple Eagles. Even though they may be beaten by Elmira I look foward to the following season when the Purple Eagles lose 14 seniors. And by the way, they started with something like 21 freshman 4 years ago. What happened to the other 7?

It's no contest between Plattsburgh and Neuman but you're right next year will be interesting with both Elmira and Plattsburgh losing half there team.
Utica will be the team to beat..

Whoh Whoe Whoe wait a minute. I am not selling Neuman down the river in this ECAC Div. III west showdown with Elmira and I know Utica has a few young Sophmores who are good, however, I cant believe you can even suggest that they will be the team to beat without a tested goaltender. The other games I have on my Div.III watch list is the final week of the regular season when Utica travels to Neuman for a two game series. In my mind Utica traveling to Neuman is like Bemidji going to Minnesota thinking they got a shot. I may have to change my mindset if Neuman is uncompetitive with Elmira but I am betting my house on Neuman that they come out of that series with at least a point.

You will see grasshopper that Utica will club Neumann just like a "baby seal". This will not be a contest,, Sorry to pop your bubble... :(

P & G, let's get down to what's really important to you about this weekend - how do you feel about Lynn's new hair color? Has it changed your opinion of her in any way? :D
I see this one being a split this weekend. If for no other reason than it will make things interesting. It's likely the right to host the ECAC tournament would come down to tiebreakers. These two teams have been so close, I hope they can both keep it going after this huge class (or each school) graduates!

A pretty bad Nor'easter snow storm has hit the Elmira area today and snow accumlulations over the next 2 days are expected to get up to 1.5 feet or higher.
Im still planning on being at the Domes today at 2 and to my knowledge the game is still going on as planned because Plattsburgh came down yesterday

My Take On The Game From A Knowledgeable Observer; Elmira outplayed Plattsburgh by a long shot.
While the Plattsburgh goals were worthy, the Eagles totally outplayed them. The Cards are very fortunate to have come out with this win and I am sure they know it.
The scoreboard doesn't always tell the tale. Think about it, you're down by one, a player short, 45 seconds left and your coach doesn't pull your goalie. Was Elmira perhaps outcoached, AGAIN?
These girls are undoubtedly still the BEST, their Coach should have left well enough alone from when he took over the helm, if the wheel isn't broken, don't try to fix it. LET THEM DO WHAT THEY KNOW BEST, THEY ARE WINNERS, RELAX, THEY WILL GET THE JOB DONE.
Needless to say, NOBODY can take away what the Eagles have accomplished. They can do it again and guess what, they WILL.
There isn't a closer, stronger group of girls, lovely young women. They shall remain bonded forever.
LOOK OUT! SEE YOU TOMORROW FOR A BIG WIN. GO EAGLES
