That means Luc Longley is a better player than Karl Malone, John Stockton, and KG.

Don't forget that Mark Madsen is better than Charles Barkley. Martin Lapointe is better than Jarome Iginla. Ruslan Fedotenko is better than Ilya Kovalchuk. Mark Bellhorn is better than Ryne Sandberg. Aaron Taylor is better than Anthony Munoz.

There have been some stupid arguments made by otherwise upstanding members of this board. This one might take the cake.

And Ray Bourque sucked until that last year he played.

And Doug Mientkewicz is a ton better than Barry Bonds.

Your reasoning is proof that crack don't smoke itself.

Unlike the hippy democrat, anti-American, communistic liberals in my America, no, I do not smoke anything. Or maybe I should quote your hero Bill Clinton, "I did not inhale." Bourque was a great player who racked up good/decent stats, but had to leave the Bs and whore himself to the Avs (the NY Yankees of the NHL) in order to get his name on the cup in a desperation move. His last season with the Avs was unremarkable, nothing worthy of praise, yet the sheep-like Bs fans of the North Shore will kiss his arse 24-7. Too bad the Cup does not say Bs on it in this century. :p

I am convinced that individual player stats mean nothing if you do not win it all. I have asserted this about 25 times and given proof of professional players saying the very same thing, yet you fools want to argue against my opinion. Lefties: when they are not making horses-asses out of themsevles (or trying to weaken The United States of America) they are illogical. ;) I got to go, time to watch Condi Rice get confirmed: by the murderer from Massachusetts and the klansman from Virginia). :D

Jason Viterino was a better player than Scott Pellerin?? One has a ring, one doesn't. I guess it has nothing to do with ones teammates, its all about one player

Um...Red Wings? Rangers? (1 and 2 for payroll last year).

Find me one great player who didn't win it all (i.e. Marino, Barkley) who thinks that his career is/was defined by number of championships won.

These are TEAM sports you're talking about. While some may feel hollow if they are never on a championship team (do you blame them?...they spend their entire lives working toward a goal that goes unrealized...I'd feel hollow, too), individual greatness is not defined by championships. Never has been. Never will be.

The idea that J.R. Redmond is a better running back than Barry Sanders or Gale Sayers because Redmond won a championship and Sanders and Sayers didn't is ridiculous. So is the notion that Tee Martin was a better quarterback than Peyton Manning, or that Josh Heupel was better than Jason White.

They might have fulfilled a lifelong dream, but the fact that they did so doesn't make them a better individual player. It makes them **** lucky to have been on a great team that was able to put it all together.

Ladies and gentlemen: THE RETURN OF NATE91B!!! A sports discussion turns political.

Face it, while championships are every player's dream, it doesn't reflect the individual talent that that player has. Quite simple to understand. I am sure if you went up to every coach, every player, every scout, etc, at least 95% would say they'd rather have Marino over Trent Dilfer. Why? BECAUSE MARINO IS BETTER THAN DILFER.

(and I am conservative, Mr. Ignoramus)

 They all strive for a Superbowl Ring, Bruce, you seem to want to forget that little fact. While individual player statistics and awards are a nice honor, it is about winning the big games. The Lombardi Trophy. The Superbowl Ring. World Champions! Are you ignoring the weeping Hines Ward press conferences?! Did you not see the Mora Meltdown of 2005? Are you blind to the anger of Bill Cowher? Are you pretending the angst of Peyton Manning is just a fabled construct?

The Hall of Fame is full of many great players with high numbers who never won a darn thing in the pro's: OJ Simpsin, Leroy Selmon, Marino, Sanders, etc. It's great these non-champion players won an honor in a dumpy HoF that many never visit in BF Ohio (and we know the only thing good about Ohio is, obviously, they are a Republican red state!), but these players are also known for not winning a Superbowl. Could it be the HoF is nothing more than a consolation prize for not winning a Superbowl? Let's use conjecture: which would the Steelers players rather have, a 5th Superbowl or a spot in the Hall of Fame? LOL. Seems the Steelers were (literally) crying there answer! :D

If Brady never gets in the HoF, big deal, he is a two time Superbowl MVP. In New England Brady is gold, screw the HoF, as fans would rather have the hardware. Plus, Brady, like Schilling, is a great American Patriot, which I am sure confuses you with your ambiguity surrounding your anti-American liberal beliefs; both Brady and Schilling are Conservatives. ;) :D

Game Over. Play Again.

So, based on this new information Dick Butkus wasn't a great football player.

Just answer the question. Since so many were asked, I'll ask one to simplify things:

Is Byung-Hyun Kim a better pitcher than Johan Santana?

Ted Williams sucked, too, and it's a good thing the Bears won that Super Bowl, or Walter Payton would have been just another running back.

LOL, can you ignorant leftists even comprehend what I am saying? pucksntape doe snot think you can! :D I am not saying that they players suck, in fact they are great individual players with great statistics, but they never won the big one. Truth be told Teddy Ballgame was a great player, but truth is he never was good enough to win the big show. Is that hard for you anti-American leftist, islamofacist loving uscho'ers to get? :D ;) :D

Yeah. Too bad Ted Williams wasn't as good as Kevin Millar. They might have broken the curse much earlier.

No, Teddy Ballgame was good enough, it's the Red Sox who weren't good enough (until now). No one player can win the World Series, not even the best d@mn hitter in the history of the game.
