Gustavus is a good team, and we'll see just how good as they play Williams and then the big matchup will be with Point tomorrow. Also it will be interesting to see how Middlebury responds today against RF and then tomorrow at St Thomas.

Is the West for real? I think so, what do you think all you Easterners???

The eastern teams wouldn't be playing these games if they didn't think the west teams weren't any good.

The west is definitely for real...IMHO...it has always been real. The two western teams that i have seen play, Gustavus Adolphus 3 years ago and River Falls 2 years ago were both very good teams and right on par with the top teams in the East. Gustavus i still believe holds the record by quite a large margin of most goals scored on Elmira by a D3 team with 5. Elmira won the game 8-5 but Gustavus was with the Eagles every step of the way till the final period. Then, the following year. River Falls was the first team that i have ever seen that was actually FASTER than Elmira. River Falls could have beat EC in the semis in 2003 if they got a bounce to go their way. River Falls was also the first Elmira college game i was at where i wasnt 100% confident that EC was going to win the game.

All in all...I think the western teams have definitely made a place for theirselves in the east. Especially if that fan has seen a top western team play. I have no doubt that teams like Superior and Point could play the top eastern teams and win their fair share of games.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if Stevens Point was the team holding the trophy in March this year, they almsot did it last year and probably would have if it wasnt for Middlebury and running into their unbeatable goalie down the stretch Kate Kogut.
