The latest computer rankings have been uploaded to the server (http://vortex.bd.psu.edu/~rutter/WomensHockey/0405WomensD1Rankings.html). Minnesota and Dartmouth stay 1/2 after the split, and Mercyhurst moves up to 8th, replacing Yale in the top 10. Remember, these polls ignore home ice and when the game took place, so teams like Mercyhurst are getting more votes in the USCHO.com poll based on recent performances.
This weeks top ten:
1 Minnesota
2 Dartmouth
3 Minnesota-Duluth
4 Wisconsin
5 New Hampshire
6 St. Lawrence
7 Harvard
8 Mercyhurst
9 Ohio State
10 Princeton
For a brief demonstration as to how each system values wins and losses, look at Ohio State's current ranks:
Mease-Rutter: 9
Mease: 11
KRACH: 6
RPI: 13
KRACH rewards OSU more for the win over Wisconsin, while RPI gives it the least weight. Mease-Rutter estimates a variance near 1, which is directly related to their inconsistency (splits with North Dakota and St. Cloud State).
