Since there are a couple other series besides the marquee matchups this weekend, what about this one ? The Mavs have a two point edge in the standings with two games in hand. (I think) I'd figure this a pretty close call. Still, I'm going to predict four points for UND to leap frog the Mavs and Huskies. Watch your tails Huskies...and good luck against SLU.
A Sioux sweep? I think UND is still a year away from making that kind of move in the league.

Come on a sweep, just because your prescious Gophers didnt get the South St. Paul Trio you dont have to dog on them like that. You still have your olympians for this year so you will be fine. Go MAVS

Has Gagnon-Laplante recovered from the serious boarding incident versus Wisconsin......with her on the ice ND is much more explosive.

I believe if I read it right she broke her collar bone, so she may be out for awhile yet!

LOL...Although my bitter disappointment over the SSP trio has yet to subside it has nothing to do with my prediction of a Sioux sweep...a prediction that shouldn't be taken too seriously BTW. It was designed to create a reaction. Seriously, I think MSU has the edge in goal but I think I'd give a slight edge in everything else to UND. I think it'll be a close couple of games...and I'm not likely to stop fuming over the "mass SSP defection" 'till they graduate.

The big question for the Mavericks is when will Conway finally start scoring. She had a really good season last year (in terms Mav scoring). I agree that the Sioux have the offensive edge this weekend, but I would give the total defensive edge to Mankato. The goalies still have a case of the disease that Vogt had. They can keep the pucks out, the d can clear them but the forwards can't put them away.
Brooky, if it makes you feel any better, the Gophers did get Albrecht before Mankato started picking from the backyard. They also had a good run in Roseville for a while. I guess it's a natural progression. Laura starts recruiting up North (Nicols, Palkie, Marvin, etc.) and we start getting the Twin Cities.

You coulndt have said it any better. Conway really needs to start playing like she did last year, she isnt even close to where she was last year right now. There are a couple of others that arent playing up to their potential either. They could have nice season if they start playing like they are supposed to. Should be an interesting weekend up in Grand Forks

I hadn't seen details but knew she had missed some games. My daughter played with her in prep school ....Lex is a pretty tough kid.....I hate to see her miss a bunch of games like that.

This is one Gopher fan that is glad we got Albrecht. She really stepped it up last year when we were short on D.

Thank's taz, I'll try & keep that in mind in an attempt to get past my "SSP depression." ;) I too am very happy to have Ashley on the Gopher roster. Even more frightening to me than the Fisher/Young/Nelson outcome however...and I'm really not at all, in any way unhappy with the Gopher recruits, is that "natural progression" or maybe a trend you mention as there are currently a couple metro area HS juniors I really must insist play for the maroon & gold when the time comes. Not just a Gopher fan...nope, I'm a greedy, selfish Gopher fan. :)

Looks like I was off on this one...by a point. ;)
Nice prediction brooky, although I think you made it just to agitate the Mav faithful. It is interesting that UND continues to have some success, even though I think they are currently only at 9 scholarships. Once they get to the full 18, look out. I like their chances of being an upper division team in a couple of years.

Well, they did get their linemate from their previous team...the Woosters are great players but I have no complaints about the one that didn't get away.

Well, maybe a little. ;) But having seen both UND & MSU I genuinely believed the Sioux would come out on top of this matchup.
