It's OK, Plattsburgh have it wrong on their website schedule too. Not a big thing but just for the record: Mississauga. Nothing against Plattsburgh or D3 but that's a surprising result for what is supposed to be one of the stronger Ontario junior teams versus a D3 team and interesting to compare with Toronto Junior Aeros results against Princeton and Cornell last week. Mississauga play Cornell tomorrow; do they play anyone on Sunday?

The Mississauga website shows them playing Elmira on Sunday. The Utica schedule also shows them playing Mississauga today, which must be an error  I have always argued that the very top Div 3 teams are on a par with the bottom end of Div 1, so this weekend will be another gauge of that, although with some good recruits Cornell may no longer be at the bottom end of Div 1?

Mississauga has an AA Intermediate team (U22) and an AA Midget team (U19) with the same Junior Chiefs name. The AA Intermediate team (9-4-2 on the year) is the team that played Plattsburgh today, Cornell tomorrow, and Elmira on Sunday. Utica will be playing the AA Midget Junior Chiefs.

Elmira starts off the 2004-2005 campaign on a strong note completely obliterating the Chatham Cougars tonight in PA. The soaring eagles got numerous contributions to the scorers box tonight...but none more promiment than Laura Hurd's 5 point game...Laura's 1 goal and 4 assists paced the Eagles offense on the night in a game where they tallied 14 all together and gave up none. Also having big games were Freshmen forward Farren Hart (1 goal, 3 assists for 4 points), and Junior forward Jackie Oneil (2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points). Sophomore forward Stacy Collins rounded out the top scorers for Elmira with a hattrick.
The Eagles dominated the shots 49-4....
same two teams do battle again tommorow at 2pm......Elmira now stands stands at 1-0-0 and 2 points in ECAC west play...while Chatham drops to 0-3-0 and 0 points in ECAC west play....
Other scores:
Plattsburgh:3 Missasauga 21U Team:1
Utica:7 Missasauga 19U Team:2

Chiefs looked good early in the game as the Cards were trying to knock the rust off the skates in their first game. Chiefs have talent, but only dressed 14 for the game! As the Cards got their game going and the game wore on, the Chiefs just couldn't keep their early 1 goal lead.

Elmira finishes off the weekend sweep of conference whipping boy Chatham with a 13-0 win over the Cougars. Elmira scored 27 goals this weekend while given up 0 as well as given up only 9 shots total...In 2 games!
Laura Hurd once again paced the offense...this time with 7 points coming from 2 goals and 5 assists. Jackie Oneil was right behind her with 5 points of her own adding a goal and 4 assists. Red-shirt Freshmen forward Stefanie Mclean picked up right where she left off last year before her injury netting the hattrick tonight. Finally, Shannon Sargent rounded out Elmira's major point getters with 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 total points on the night.
Freshmen goalie, Cara McGurry picked up her first collegiate win posting the shutout and making 5 saves in her first college hockey game ever. The Elmira College Soaring Eagles are now 2-0-0 on the year and have 4 points in ECAC West conference play.
Next up for Elmira is a scrimmage at the Murray Athletic Center tommorow afternoon at 1pm where the Eagles will take on the Missausauga Jr 21U team. Next actual game is Saturday November 13th @ D1 Clarkson.
In other D3 action:
D1 Union defeated RPI 4-1 tonight...and Neumann picked up an exhibition win over Rhode Island 5-2.

I DONT UNDERSTAND
How can you run a hockey program at Chatham...
when you only have 9 skaters dress for games.. plus 2 goalies
why do they bother having a team if they cant or wont dress at least something close to a full squad

The real question is why does the ECAC East have 12 teams and the ECAC West have only 7? Looking at the map it sure isn't a travel thing. I think the ECAC should do a better job of planning the conference's team balance...

RIT and Manhattanville could move over to the ECAC west....However then all you do is create a super conference with Elmira, Plattsburgh, Manhattanville, RIT, and Utica...Easily the top conference in the nation with those 4...and the ECAC East is left for NEC to dominate all comers as RPI moves on to D1 next year...
The only sensible option i could see if Chatham left is moving RIT to the ECAC west which they are in men's hockey.

The EC womens' team...playing their 3rd game in as many days came from behind to get their revenge on the Missausauga Jr Cheifs 21U team after last year's embarassing 7-1 defeat. Today, the Eagles defeated the Chiefs 4-2 in front of 75 fans at the Murray Athletic Center in Pine Valley, NY.
EC jumped out on top early as Senior forward Lindsay Palmer found the back of the net on the powerplay for the eagles with an assist coming from junior Jackie Oneil. Missasauga then scored the next two goals in the later half of the period within 2 minutes. Shots in the period were dead even at 7...much like the play in the first period...the shots were almost a direct indicator of the flow of the game.
In the 2nd period EC was able to knot things up late as Freshmen forward Stephanie Mclean continued her hot start coming off a season ending injury last year as she scored on the PP from LeAnn Denman. Elmira took the shots 12-8 in the period as well as dictating possession and flow of the games for the most part.
Elmira then finished the comeback off in the final period as Senior forward Laura Hurd scored the eventual game winning goal on the powerplay from Stefanie Mclean about halfway through the period. Lindsay Palmer cemented the game with a empty net goal in the final minute of play giving Elmira a 4-2 win over a very tough Junior squad in Missasauga.
comparing scores of the Plattsburgh and Elmira games...P-burgh and Elmira once again look to be dead even in terms of team strength as they both played relatively similar games against Missasauga..each winning by 2 goals.
Elmira's Edith Racine picked up the win in goal saving 21 shots in a much different situation than Edith faced just 2 days ago against ECAC west cellar dwellar Chatham.
Overall, even though this was an exhibition..it was a great win for Elmira. They have now shown that they are back to where they were in previous years and that last year's performance is long gone from memory...Cant wait for the big games to start!!! :D Its gonna be a great year

I DO AGREE
The ECAC should realign the teams
making the most sense would be to have RIT move to the west

I do not disagree that realignment might help. Just remember, though, that ECAC East has 3 members that are not D3 teams, St Michael's, St Anselm's and Holy Cross. Also one team, MIT, does not play a full conference schedule. This leaves 8 teams, assuming Castleton plays a full conference schedule next year, that qualify for D3 tournament play.
I would think moving RIT (a team presently on par with NEC, So. Maine, and possibly UMB) makes the most sense. I wouldn't miss the drive to Rochester and I'm sure So. Maine and Rochester wouldn't miss the drive for their Home and Away matchups.

Both RIT and Mannhattanville's man's teams play in the West.
